Took a selfie for twitter moaning about work tomorrow but was pleased with my beard in it!

Great picture, beard looks great, as does the slyness!
First started shaving my head on the 9th October 2014

My twenty year-old son has beard envy; he has no evidence of being able to grow anything on his face. The potential of facial hair in the near future is questionable. I got him this as a returning to college present. He'll be big man on campus now, for sure.

I messed up my beard :( lol i went to low on the cheeks my cheeks are not as strong so i lower them and it looks decent...but im sure like many before i had the same questions in mind "dont look even" "need to go lower" etc...so now im waiting for them to grow back.

That uneven cheek thing is my downfall. I've ruined my beard a few times. Now I try to resist the urge to do a lot of trimming there.

When trimming cheeks (or any other part of the beard), set yourself limits beforehand, and if not even, stop after no more than two attempts.  I have the same issue with the top of my sideburns and my hair line.  I tend to occasionally take a little off the top of my sideburns when I shave my head.  So after a few weeks, I just move the line back up and let it grow back.

Two points:
1) It might not be possible for the sides to match perfectly. Back in my goatee days I always had trouble making sure the sides matched.  It took me over a decade to realize that my face is not symmetrical and that matching up the sides perfectly just wasn't possible.  I think the differences were so subtle that no one would have ever noticed (no one ever commented), but I once work with a guy who kept the sides of his goatee so different that I easily noticed it and it always bugged me.

2) I've noticed that a beard can easily look weird if the neckline is too high (like up at the jawline) but they rarely seem to look weird if the cheeklines are too low.  They may look less than optimal too low, but rarely bad or weird the way a high neckline looks.
You don't know me, but I know you.

Mine  is starting to fill out

Awesome!  Keep it going.  It always amazes me how often guys with great beard potential take years before they try to grow out a real beard.

What makes my cheeks uneven is me messing up lol so when that happens even if its only a little bit its like i have to even it up.
