I've got a couple of years experience when it comes to "just letting it grow" and it's honestly the only way to grow a big beard . You'll know when you've gone too far... I still haven't found that point yet!

some impressive beards in here. I have mostly been okay with shaving my head since I started losing my hair but I'm always upset that I can't grow a full beard or even a half decent goatee.

Guess hair in general just wasn't in the cards for me.

Latest beard update.  I am now at over 6 months since the last beard or mustache trim (March 2013).  The longest hairs are below my chin at 5 inches, and the mustache tips are almost 3".  I am undecided how much longer I want to let it go, but always wanted to try a long beard.  I may go to the end of the year.  I do not seem to get as many compliments in public as I did when it was shorter, but compliments are not my goal.

Slymike, I rarely wear hats, just happened to have one on the day my avatar photo was taken.  Sir Harry, I still have the handlebar mustache, it just is not styled as a handlebar.  It's just combed to the side and down to blend in with the beard.  I typically do not take the time to curl it.  I may curl it that again for halloween.
