Reddog, your white beard looks great.  I color my beard, but if it was all white like yours I would not.  My goatee area and mustache are salt and pepper, mainly salt.  My cheeks are still dark, and my sideburns are white.  So when I went from a mustache/goatee to a full beard, I decided to color it.  It is a weekly chore to keep the white out, and once you start, there is no easy way to stop unless you shave and start over.  If the dye is left on too long, the color will look unnatural.

If you ever decide to color, PM me and I will give you some tips.

Reddog, Your platinum colored beard looks awesome. I would leave it that way. It really looks good with the bald dome.

Razor, I like the white in your beard. It looks great on you. mine is more salt and pepper now but will get whiter with time.

A good van dyke really compliments a smooth, bald and shiny dome.

Most of my beard pics have been taking indoors under artificial lighting conditions.  I decided to try an outdoor shot today.  If this is an accurate depiction, then I'm a little closer to that platinum reddog beard than I thought! I'm very happy to be coming out of the patchy stage in the goatee area.  I'm still not sure what the pattern will be in the mustache.  I'm hoping it will be a more even transition than the chin has been.

This is why none of the men in my family sport a handlebar.

Time to trim.

Wait, Cave Dweller... try some wax or something first.  I'm not sure if anybody can train a handlebar without something to help it along..  ??

You have no idea how much wax I applied to that whispy thing before I got my wife to take that picture.

Thanks for the assumption, though.

Okay.  I haven't tried a handlebar yet, but would like to at some point.  I would probably have the same issue...lol.

It takes more length that you would think to actually get a handlebar,  The mustache waxes I tried would not hold mine, I use a product called "Got2b glued" to hold mine in place.  Once you get it in place, hit it with a blow dryer and it stays.  It does take some time to get a curl, so I usually just put enough to keep it out of my mouth and then down to blend in with my beard.

I am over six months since trimming my mustache now.

I have grown a Goatee and trying to decide how long to let it go. Gets to a stage when  it irritates! Guess i need to persevere?

Koolpc, I do not understand what you mean by it irritates.  If you are talking about itching, for most that starts around week one and lasts for a week or two.  From what I recall, you started your goatee more that a month or so ago.

You may want to try using a conditioner to soften it up to see if that helps.

Wow, so many awesome beards since I was here last! Good stuff everyone!

Koolpc, if you've had your beard for a month you should be nearing the end of the itchiness now, but conditioner helps soo much. I always use conditioner, it just makes your beard so much softer, even try double conditioning, I do that on nights I go out, and it makes your beard super soft!

Hope this helps, if you want to grow a bigger beard, it's all about persistence, you really need to push through that itchy phase, then the floor is the limits... lol!

If you want to get grow it longer you have to actually let it grow, you are only getting further away from your goal every time you trim it back  ;) Just let it grow for a while, condition regularly and see how you go!

Beardman, When it comes to beard growing advice, this is as good as it gets. Leave the beard alone and let it grow.

Several times, I have "chickened out" and gone to the barbers and a trim.
