A little info on how this Forum is Moderated

The following statement from another thread nudged me to post this thread:

When is this thread gonna get moderated? Because I can honestly leave your immoral 'beliefs' (if that's the word you want to hide behind) shattered. But I'm trying so hard not to, since I like this forum and I like this community of people, I'd like to not get banned.

The particular line that tweaked me was the question that was asked first. So here's how it works. EVERY single thread posted to this Forum is "moderated". That means each thread is read, usually by more than one Moderator. If a thread violates the rules of the Forum it is deleted IMMEDIATELY by one of the Moderators.
If a thread has a topic which could cause problems, one of the Moderators will usually post only to the OTHER Moderators that he is monitoring the thread and that it looks like it could become a problem. In a case like this, one of the Moderators will often post in the thread "to tread lightly" or something of that nature. Once a Moderator has notified the other Moderators that he is monitoring a thread, other Moderators generally monitor it also. If the thread gets out of hand, one of the Moderatorss will delete it and then notify the other Moderators.
Also... the Moderators receive messages nearly everyday about threads that are obvious SPAM or even a thread that is offensive. We act on them accordingly.

It's that simple....... we MONITOR and then MODERATE where necessary. We generally don't post "knock it off" type comments in the open Forum. Many times members that are being a problem will get a a PRIVATE PM from a Moderator with a warning. No need to embarass anyone in the open Forum.

One more thing to remember... the Moderators on this Forum are volunteers that actually work and have Families. This means that sometimes things might go on for a few hours or even a day, that need attention. Believe me, as soon as a problem is noticed... it is "fixed".

So..... there is no need for any member of this Forum to wonder if any particular thread is being "moderated" because every single thread is.

Like Koz said, we are always reading.  We want this to be as open as possible, but we all know that some topics are just too charged and will often cause strife amongst the members.  The goal of SBG is to help guys build confidence and provide the best head shaving advice possible. Anything else is help grow the community.

Thanks for all being great members and help moderating by hitting the "Report to Moderator" link in the bottom of the post.

I agree.  A thankless task but briliantly done.  I don't think I have come across any (perhaps one or two) posts that cause me any offense and the support given by all members especially to those trying to decide whether to take the plunge is awesome.

Hey Mike:  Great post.  For the majority of the time... this forum is 99% all good.  Of course... we have those idiots or spammers that try to disturb this great site but thankfully we have many quality members that report it to the moderators.  If I am not at work or away from the computer... I make sure that those idiots & spammers are removed.

 I love this site and it's quality members.  I always refer to this site as a  sly fraternity.  Anyone or anything that disturbs our fraternity will be removed like a fresh blade mowing the hairs on our dome.

One of the great things about this forum is that the mods are on the top of their game....all of this while juggling everyday life....Amazing how I can work 48-hour or more workweeks and still find time to hang out here...Thanks again guys for all that you do! Like was said earlier, moderating is a thankless job here!
