  These guys are getting soo much air time on my local rock station at the moment! If they come to Australia I'll be sure to look them up too.

• Many of you know that I'm a huge Warren Zevon fan. This song was written by Zevon as a gift to his Family shortly before he died. He knew for about a year that he had a terminal lung disease.
  
  Two weeks ago at my Dad's funeral my son Chris played this song... just him and a guitar. My Dad never got to see my son play live so this was an amazing gift to my Dad and everyone attending the funeral.
  
  A great song, by a great musician. For you Dad.... I miss you:

• Hey Tyler, I've only ever heard of Volbeats, now I regret never looking them up now, I really liked that song.

• This week I have been listening to "Jackie Blue" by the Ozark Mountain Daredevils (1975?)....Beautiful little song with catchy chords and lyrics....To really appreciate this song, you have to listen to the album (long) version, the radio version edits out the most critical verse in the song which goes:
  
  Every day in your indigo eyes
  I watch the sunset but I don't see it rise
  Moonlight and stars in your strawberry wine
  You'd take the world but you won't take the time
  
  I just hate it when the radio plays the short version...(lucky for me I do have the album version on a copulation CD) and the Smashing Pumpkins just butchered this song up to me in their cover version (Sorry, no offense Smashing Pumpkins fans )
  Side note if you ever listen to the song....That's a GUY singing in high falsetto, not a female!

• Cool song, I listened to both versions, and I don't think they butchered it. It's not as good as the original, but for what it is it's a good cover (Might be a little biased due to my musical tastes...)

• "Good to be me" by Kid Rock and Uncle Kracker
  
  I've had a great week filled with great news, so this song by Kid Rock and Uncle Kracker (two of my favorite artists) is a good fit to this week.  One of the pieces of good news is that Uncle Kracker will be performing down the street from my house next week for only $10!

  Been listening to Kenny Chesney's latest album, and this song hit home with me after my dad passed on (too much death going on these days).
  This song is "Sing Em Good My Friend" and is dedicated to a friend of KC's that is dying of cancer.
  
  
  
  Wonderful song. For all of those that bag on "pop country", there are still quite a few songs this new genre of country has produced that are quite good.

  I guess that maybe I am biased to but 98% of remakes (covers) of songs are never as good as the original, I guess I have to get used to heavy metal (Smashing Pumpkins isn't a bad band, I just don't care for their cover of this song). I think it's because 1. they skip the aforementioned critical verse in the song and 2. They altered some of the words from the original in their version....my 0.02 (We might disagree here, but I'm still cool with you, Beardman! )

  Well... Red did a great rendition of Duran Duran's Ordinary World. Better, actually. I really like them singing it, and I hadn't heard the original. Then I'm walking through a store one day and the original is playing over the loudspeakers, and I'm thinking "What is this junk?" So yeah, that would be in the 2% I suppose.

  All posts are meaningful...don't be so hard on yourself....That's the fun of the forum hearing various opinions. If there was a song that fell in the 2% that the remake was better than the original, I would have to say it's Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You" Even the original artist, Dolly Parton, said Whitney's version was better!
