Razor: Mongoose w/ Jurgen Hempel Handle
Blade: Feather Professional
Soap: CRSW Select Puro Fresco
Brush: Edwin Jagger XL Synthetic
Dessert: Ice cube rub, refrigerated WH, refrigerated FINE Fresh Vetiver
I had a great face and dome shave tonight. This was my very 1st time using the Edwin Jagger synthetic brush and all I gotta say is . . . " I love it !!!" I paired it with the great
performing shave soap of Cold River Soap Works Select Puro Fresco. Love the scent.

Not seeing any of your photos on tapatalk Mel!
You're using the Mongoose every day now?
It hasn't been a game-changer for me. I gave it two straight weeks and I'd say it's ok. I have many razors that deliver better shaves effortlessly. I feel sad admitting it though!

Reddog, I thought your face looked backwards in that photo.

Feb 3:
DE shaving is getting smoother. I did a quick shave of just the top today.
Sugar/Oil scrub during the shower. This seemed to help, having the oil on the scalp prior to the shave. Skin softened.
The areas that I shaved were comparable to previous results with head blade. I think that I'm getting a better handle on the closeness of the shave and the angle of the blade. It's not what I expected from the beginning. You guys are right. Give it a few weeks to learn the technique. don't give up too soon.

My 1963 (my birthyear) Gillette Slim Adjustable came today! And I couldn't wait to try it out.
Razor: Gillette Slim Adjustable
Blade: Astra
Brush: Semogue 1470 Natural Boar
Cream: Proraso mixed with a little Shave Secret
After: Aquavelva Classic
I'm not sure if this is my imagination or just my excitement over the new razor, but this has possibly been my best head shave to date. And I'm not even sure how to use the thing. I set it to 3 and it was fantastic. Can anyone give me some tips on using the settings? If I got a great shave on a 3, would I want to try going higher?

Congrats on getting your birth year razor, and even more for getting the Slim Adjustable.
Imo it's the greatest DE razor ever made!
I only use mine for face shaving (never had the patience for learning DE shaving for my head!), but I tend to use 7 for first pass wtg and then 9 for two XTG passes. One from ear to chin/nose and one on the opposite direction.
I've paired mine with several different blades and always get great shaves

@Mike E.P. Congrats on getting the legendary Gillette Slim. I have a 1966 Slim that
my beautiful wife got me and love it. One thing I love about adjustable razors is that
you can have fun with the settings. It sounds like "3" is your number. I would stick with
that number for about a week and experiment with a higher number. BTW... nice
pic.

@BlueBriz: Yes... the Mongoose razor has been a game changer for me. I have been
using it almost exclusively since September 2014. I get incredible face and dome
shaves with it every single time. Sorry to hear that it is not working for you. I hope
that you don't give up on it. What kind did you get? Did you get the mirror finish
? Or the satin finish?

Wow!!! I had an incredible face & dome shave. There is nothing better, more challenging,
more relaxing, more soothing, and more fun than shaving with a safety razor. Ahhhhhh....
life is great.

I got the mirror finish.
I'm not sure I've given up on it, but as nice as it looks, it's just another razor for me. I have several razors I can get better shaves with more easily, SEs, DEs, and disposable blade straights. It's in my rotation for now but honestly I don't find it to be a game changer like my R41, 37C, or Slim Adjustable.
