Last night's relaxing shave:
Face (sink)
Razor: Merkur Futur (setting at #3)
Blade: Gillette 7 o clock black
Brush: Semogue 620
Soap: Mike's Natural Soap (lemongrass)
Head (shower)
Razor: Weber DLC
Blade: Gillette 7 o clock black
Brush: Semogue 620
Soap: Mike's Natural Soap
Ended it with an ice cube rub and a splash of Osage Rub.
Revisited the Gillette 7 o clock blacks. This is a great blade that is sharp and smooth. The only negative is the high price but it's definitely a must try blade. So far... the Mike's Natural Soap products are out performing my other soaps and creams. I'm really liking this product. I highly recommend this product. It lathers like yogurt, gives great glide, and great cushion. Also... leaves your skin silky smooth.

I went back to a Derby blade for last night's shave. OUTSTANDING shave with the Derby!
I used the Gabel's Lilac Vegetal after shave post shave. I love this tuff but I found one problem with it. Just after applying it I went ooutside for a few minutes and then came back into the house. Well apparently the scent of the vegetal attracted a handful of yellow jackets that proceeded to follow me into the house (Unbeknownst to me). Then I got stung on the back of the arm... then one stung me on my wrist.... and two others were after me very aggressively. I killed all four of them and scooped their nasty little carcasses into the trash can.
Can't a regular guy enjoy even the simple things in life without being attacked??!!

Well I bounced back from my worst shave ever to have one of my best shaves ever! I took about 4 days off from shaving to let my nicks fully recover, and I didn't stray from my normal routine this time. I made sure to take as much time as needed (probably 25 minutes including shower). This shave was so smooth I barely needed a second ATG pass on my head! The way I do it is going WTG on the face, then ATG on the head, rinse and re-lather, then go ATG on the face, then ATG again on the head, and re-lather and shave as necessary. I had a superb shave today!
Head and face (sink)
Razor: EJ de89
Blade: Astra SP
Soap: Van Der Hagen soap puck + ToBS Sandalwood + glycerin and Shave Secret = uberlather
Brush: Vulfix 1016 Badger
A/S: Cold water rinse and Osage Rub

@MikeKoz13: Mike.... sorry about the yellow jackets. I think I will stay away from that after shave.
@waine: Glad that the Bump Patrol is working for ya.
@BillOnBass: Bill.... glad that U had a better shave. It sounds like you are liking the Astra SP.

Here is my SOTD:
Cleanser: Neutrogena Naturals - Purifying Facial Cleanser
Scrub: Neutrogena Naturals - Purifying Pore Scrub (3 times a week)
Shave Cream: Cremo Cream
Blade: Derby Extra
Brush: Badger Hair - I hardly ever use it, especially now with the Cremo Cream
Razor: Merkur Barber Pole Safety Razor - Open Tooth
After-Shave: Avon After Shave Lotion. I used to use Metro Men's Grooming Post Shave Repair lotion but they stopped selling it on the internet and I don't live near Georgia where the barbershops are located.
I find this combination gives me a smooth, irritation-free, close shave.
I get a much better shave and cheaper shave than when I used the popular multi-blade expensive razors.

My Shave of the day:
None, I woke up late this morning and could only squeeze a quick shower in. Now I feel "incomplete" and a little "dirty" at work.

Head (at sink)
Razor : HeadBlade
Blade : Gillete Contour plus
Soap : Supermax shaving cream
Brush : Tweezerman
A/S : Bump patrol
Face (at sink)
Razor : SABI DE
Blade : Derby Extra
Soap : Supermax shaving cream
Brush : Tweezerman
A/S : Bump patrol
Comments;
I used the Derby Extra blade this morning for the first time. It felt worse than the bluntest Supermax I have ever used. The shave was so rough and unpleasant that I didn’t even bother with a second pass. I have read that Derby blades can be “hit or miss” but this miss has put me off unfortunately.

I was on a Motorcycle trip Thursday thru late Sunday so I didn't get to shave with the DE (I took my old M5 cartridge razor). It's just not nice to take up so much bathroom time when you're sharing the room with another couple! Anyway, after 3 shaves with the M5 a couldn't wait to shave with my Edwin Jagger last night. I got home form the trip, unpacked, showered and had a nice relaxing shave. Much better shave!!!
Head (in the shower):
Razor: HeadBlade
Shave Soap : HeadSlick
Brush : Wally World Special
Face (at the sink):
Razor: Edwin Jagger DE89L
Blade: Derby
Shave soap: RazoRock XXX
Brush: Vulfix 1001
After Shave: Gabel's Vegetal

Dusted of the DE thanks to Warhawk and Mikekoz. Man, what a difference a good blade makes vs. the generic drugstore brand. Started off with the Gillette blade and had great results. Helps not to be in a rush while you get the hang of the angle and amount (or lack of) pressure. One thing that I noticed is shaving your upper lip is much easier than it is with the Fusion or Mach3...the width of those almost feel like a 2x4 compared to the single DE blade!
Face (at the sink):
Razor: Merkur
Blade: Gillette 7 o'clock super stainless (thanks for the vatiety pack Warhawk!)
Shave soap: Caswell Massey Dr.Hunter's Original Barbershop Shave Cream
Brush: Omega
After Shave: Gabel's Lilac Vegetal

Head (at sink)
Razor : Merkur 34C
Blade : Derby Extra
Soap : Proraso
Brush : Tweezerman
A/S : Bump patrol
Face (at sink)
Razor : Merkur 34C
Blade : Derby Extra
Soap : Proraso
Brush : Tweezerman
A/S : Clubman
Dusted off the Merkur for the first time in probably a year, put in a fresh blade and went to town. It is slightly more aggressive than my Edwin Jagger, but not harshly so. Noticed last week that using the DE on both the head and face caused the blade to dull faster (duh). I'll plan to replace the blade mid-week this week and see if it's better. I typically go a full week between blade replacements if just shaving my face.

@ R o b 6: Rob congrats on taking the DE plunge!
Just had a refreshing, relaxing afternoon DE shave.
Face (sink)
Razor: Weber ARC
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue
Soap: Mike's Natural Soap
Brush: Semogue 620
Dome (shower)....same as above
Finished it off with my ice cube rub & Osage Rub. Aaaaahhhhh....feeling great! This is my 1st time using the Gillette Silver Blue. These blades are made in Russia. It is a great blade that was very forgiving & no skips & no tugs. The only negative was the lack of availability & price of these blades on the internet.
