Saturday 3rd January 2015.
First shave with my Mongoose.
Handle is from Maggard razors.
Kai mild blade.
Noxzema pre shave.
Body shop Maca Root shave cream.
Whipped Dog silver top.
Brut.
I didn't find it immediately simple to use like with, say, my Slim Adjustable, for example. By the end of the third pass I had it dialled in though. And it did deliver a great shave. Very heavy compared to any other razors I have though!

I had my first face & head shave with my 'new' Gillette Fat Boy. I was very, very careful. I have not used a DE since about 1965. The results were good. I got a very close shave, but I need a lot more practice.
I used the Merkur Super Platinum blade.

@Blubriz: Hi Brian: Glad you finally got your Mongoose. I love that Maggard Handle.
@Red: I love your Gillette Fatboy that looks like it is in mint condition. I have a 1960 Fatboy. Keep at it. It took
me about a week to get comfortable with my face shaves and about a week to get comfortable with my head
shaves.

The Edwin Jagger razor arrived in the mail today.
Got some tips from Mike E. P.
Gave it a try. As expected, not the smoothest shave, but I'm taking it conservative. Wife and I are going out tonight and I don't need "blood in the marketplace, tonight" from my head!
So, the photo shows the equipment and accessories.

Hi Dan: Congrats on the EJ89L and thanks for sharing. It looks like you also got a Semogue 830
brush. Remember to take your time. It took me about a week to get comfortable with my face
shaves and about a week to get comfortable on my head shaves. Check out "Mantic 59" on Youtube.

Yes, daughter bought me the brush on your recommendation (for Christmas).
Warhawk, looking back through this blog, looks like you have a huge collection of shaving gear!
Oh, I did forget to mention that for dessert yesterday I had some lemon sugar scrub the help shine up the noggin'.
I'm going to try again this evening. I'm not expecting the super smooth shave of the day during the first week, but rather time to learn the skill of handling that razor. BTW, how many shaves do you find you get out of a single blade? Logic would seem to say that a multi-blade razor should last longer than a single edge. If the multi lasts about 7 shaves, then the double edge, somewhat less? What's your mileage?
For now, sticking WTG shaves with this razor.
I did check out some of those videos.

Hi Dan, I change blades after 2 shaved. Remember, us bbc guys have alot more to shave. I usually shave my face at the same time. The blades are so cheap, I don't mind changing often.

@MrZed: Hi Dan... I hope you enjoy the traditional way of shaving. Remember to be patient
because this is a required skill but most of all have fun. It is a fun journey.
