Tried the HeadBlade again....and got it right!
« on: July 05, 2012, 02:03:41 PM »
Yo, SBG's- As I mentioned in another thread, I got a HeadBlade Sport from my sister for Father's Day a couple of weeks back. Today was the day I circled to give it a try for a personal reason. I followed through this morning after work, got in the shower, applied my shaving concoction with a brush and then I just used the wheels over my head more than the blade...It worked! Aside from minor touchups from behind the ears, it got the job! It just was a matter of following directions like you guys said....My Father's Day Present just became a nice birthday present! Thanks for letting me share, I'm sold!
NOTE: I still will use my straight razor when I go beyond three days growth.

Congrats! Btw, I've always needed to touch up around the ears with a back up razor.

Use mine everyday and love it.  It is the ticket for head shaving IMHO.

Seems like around the ears needs a little weed-eater type contraption.

Or a a HeadBlade with "curb feelers" attachment - another reference which mostly the "mature generation" will recognize.

ONce you master the HB you'll be able to get almost everything on your ATG pass. I still use my M5 razor to get the little spot just above my ears.

I've found (as Waine mentioned in another thread) that if you hold the handle between your thumb and forefinger, the ears are no problem.

Same here. HB is primary. Hydro 5 is aux.  Or if I skip a day, I'll start with the Hydro 5 WTG and then run the HB for the rest of the head shave.

Shot Slyfive, I am glad that someone acknowledged my tip for the ears.  It works like a bomb.

For me, it seems a waste of blades and time to have to touch up with another razor after using the HeadBlade.  It's almost like having your car washed at a carwash, but you have to wash certain areas again with a bucket of water and a cloth afterwards.  Sort of defeats the object of going for a car wash in the first place.

But thats just me, don't let me spoil any Sly guy's fun.

I've tried that to and it works like a charm. Thanks for the tip.

That's basically how I always hold it, plus I never let the wheel touch my head, and I probably do put quite a bit of pressure with the blade.  So yeah I fail at following directions, but that way works great for me.

My only problem using that grip is... right behind the ears!  My big problem though is just that my glasses block that area, so I have to take my glasses off and then I'm absolutely blind, so that's what makes it tough for me.   I still manage with my eyes closed but it's definitely slower

Good advice needs to be shared! I totally agree that you should only have to use one tool for the job
