(for those who don't know, that's a snippet of a very famous movie phrase ["Go ahead, make my day"] spoken by Clint Eastwood in Sudden Impact.)
Ok, so that was a bit off topic ... which should really be "Made my day" but that's not nearly as interesting.
I stopped at the warehouse club on the way home to get a few things and at the register the cashier was studying my card - looking from the card to me and comparing it with my credit card (verifying same name).
I realized her confusion and said, "Oh, that picture's from when I had hair."
She smiled, handed me my cards, and said ... "You look much better BALD."
Now, that really made my day. A compliment from someone I've never seen before and totally unprompted.
That'll carry me along for several days.
I love reading these stories, I haven't had to show ID for anything yet, but my drivers licence photo is very different to the new me, so I am sure I will get the same responses. Just as long as I don't get done for Identity theft... lol!
I also appreciate responses like that, Frontierguy. It's amazing how far a little genuine heartfelt compliment goes.
I have never seen you with hair, but the look definitely suits you.
Comments like that always make the day brighter. I've been told that I look younger sly and that I'll look even younger if I replace my glasses with contacts. I'm hoping that will give me the motivation to do it!
It really does make a difference, even just a shared smile
Was she attractive? If so, that's even better =)
Great story. Thanks for sharing.
