Day 15...
Color is getting better, and the morning routine is feeling a bit more routine. Been shaving in the shower with a Gillette Fusion ProGlide (5 weeks of shaves with one cartridge??? HA! Not here, this beard eats razors for breakfast), and figured I'd try Headslick and Headshed by headblade. I started going with the grain, but pretty quickly I decided I'd just go straight front to back. Today marks the first day I decided I'd take a little time and go against the grain on the back of the head. Hair's pretty thick back there, and almost as bad as shaving the beard(which I don't anymore). All in all, I like the results.
As far as redness, irritation, and breakouts back there.... I have heard and used Teatree oil, and/or aloe. Any suggestions?
Congrats on reaching the halfway point....As far as irritation on the back (I presume you mean around the nape of the neck area), I always use an ice cube and witch hazel before applying aftershave (if I use any)I do this to my entire head and I may have had one or two breakouts (my fault) in the last six or seven months. I'm sure the fellas here have some other suggestions to help you with your breakouts/redness. Good Luck!
For redness, try a dab, about 1/2 teaspoon of hydrocortizone lotion--not the creme formulation after a wipe down with an astringent like witch hazel.
Nice beard, goes well with the smooth dome--and you've found out what I learned, blades last for a really long time if you don't shave below the ears!
Good work. Love the beard. Bald head looks great.
Congrats on half-way. Yea the beards a winner. I am not a big fan of anything that stings my head after shaving. I use an Aloe gel that has a small amount of ladocaine (like stuff for sunburn) and a moisturizer with coconut oil 2x/day and it seems to due the trick for me. But everyone is different, so experiment. Great Job keep it up!!
