New razor?
« on: June 21, 2012, 09:23:26 PM »
Has anyone here used the Schick Hydro 5? If so, how many shaves did you get per cartridge? And did you like the results? I started out using the Gillette Fusion 4 blade but was blowing through a cartridge a day and they're too expensive for that. I'm cuurently using a disposable 3 blade from Krazers but I'm not entirely pleased with the results.

i've used the hydro 3 have not tried the 5 yet and got several shaves maybe about 3-4 out of my razor before the gel at the top of the blade runs out then I use a new cartridge you have to let the blade do the work and make good skin contact and the box around the blades protects our face when shaving sorta I also like their shave gel it work pretty good the newest one that protects your skin works great for me for me nothing special to shave with I can use the hydro but it take longer to shave my head with the the disposables to make the look clean and tight looking you know the way the blade is work well on the face of course

I saw the Hydro 3 and Hydro 5 on the supermarket shelves.  I cannot justify spending so much on razor blades.  Firstly I have to finish my blade arsenal.  Secondly,  five blades is far too much for my head.  Its like using a fork lift to lift up a brick - Overkill.  But I do have thin hair, so perhaps that is the difference.

My Double edge is all I need.

But, yes, these do look like nice razors.

I have and love the shave it gives but it takes a little longer you'll need to make about two passes to get it smooth and to go over spots you missed

I have the powered hydro 5 and I love it, you do require a couple of passes sometimes, I am unsure if that is because I am still new to the whole headshaving thing or not. But it gives a nice close shave with or without the power on. As to cartridges, I think I have got about 5 shaves off my first cartridge and I do my face and head with it. I think I might be able to get at least 2 more shaves from it (the aloe vera reserves are starting to run out).

Hope this helps.
