Finally sly and loving it!
« on: June 12, 2012, 03:40:21 AM »
G'day guys,

I've been lurking the past couple of days (as everyone seems too) and decided it was time to share a bit of myself, seeing as how I have taken in so much of you guys.

This is my story; I've been receding ever since I was... well I always say 12, but it was really probably early to mid teens, either way it's some that I have been dealing with for a long time. I tried growing it long enough to cover the receding, but that wasn't really me, so over the past couple of years I had kept it rather short, normally a number 1. Then, I think it was towards the end of last year a family friend that I hadn't seen in years suggested I just shave it all off (by this point I looked like a 25yo trapped in a 40yo's body), and at the time I kind of scoffed at the idea and brushed it off. A few months later I started thinking it wasn't that bad of an idea, and almost 6 months after (I never make a decision lightly... haha!) and an almost completely new body image (dropped about 35-40 kilos over the past year or so) that I owed it to myself to complete the transformation and took the plunge just last week.

Since going sly am loving it (there is just something about rubbing your hand over that freshly shaved head) and aside from the "why did you do that?" and other silly questions like "did you do it yourself?" and "did you cut yourself?" the comments have all been really positive so far (not that it really matters because I am happy, so that is all that matters)!

Must be time for a little bit about the person below the sly look...
I'm a 25yo Landscaping apprentice from Geelong, Australia. Before I started my apprenticeship I completed a Bachelor Degree in Environmental Science (Wildlife and Conservation Biology), I have always been a really outdoors kinda guy, but through uni that took a back seat a bit (funny that, seeing I was doing an enviro course) and I have recently started getting back into it and loving it. I am a massive metal fan, and love nothing more then going and catching some local music on a weekend and having a couple of frothies. I can't think of anything else interesting to share at the moment, but I am looking forward to getting to know you guys, from what I have seen you all seem a cool bunch of blokes!

So now I guess that the telling is over it is time for a bit of showing... no not that!

     Welcome Beardman,
I too was a classic young MPB guy. At the suggestion of a friend from work and my wife I shaved what was left on my head off.... coming up on my first 30 days. I love it and the comments have been great. You have the head for shaving, you will be surprised about the boost in confidence you get. Great info and support from the guys on this site. Good Luck and once again welcome. O:O

Welcome indeed. I think your story will inspire a lot of others. Total success with the transformation and the sly look. And congrats, also, on the weight loss. This has been a true transformation for you.

Thanks for the welcome and the kind remakes guys.

Since I shaved the head I have got a few remakes that maybe the beard should be the next to go, but that is here to stay, I am way to proud of that puppy :D As I said in the beards section, you can add at least 2 inches to the current length and that was where it was a month ago before I trimmed it up to try and increase the density at the end a bit more to try and make it even more thick and monsterous  >:D

Agreed. For shame, Beardman...

I kid, of course! Welcome to the site, and thanks for sharing your story. It was a good read. Congrats on the weight loss. With that, and the freshly-shaved noggin, you look great. Like a new (and younger) man. I'm glad to hear the lifestyle changes have made you happy. May it continue indefinitely!
