Dry Scalp
« on: June 11, 2012, 12:25:56 AM »
I just started shaving my head four days ago. I've always issues with a dry scalp and it seems like my dome starts peeling within a few hours after shaving. I've tried a few different products, including aloe vera gel, but none seem to work. Anybody have any suggestions?

it could be caused by dry weather, psoriasis ect. best thing to do is if you have tried different shampoos ect, it might be time to go see a dermatologist. Have you tried baby oil?

I like the Nivea products. Nice quality, little scent, reasonably priced, and a little goes a long way.
I'll echo the comment on seeing a dermatoligist if you've tried several GOOD quality products and the problem still exists.

I agree with skinheader. What you're describing sounds like you may have psoriasis or a similar skin condition that you may not have been aware of due to hair coverage. When my psoriasis flares up it either gets dry and even a bit scaly and flakes off, or my skin will have a plaque-like build up and eventually peel resembling that of a sunburn. I'd go see a dermatologist if the symptoms continue.

You could also try some headblade head lube, (glossy or matte), or Bald Guyz moisture gel.

I agree that you might want to see a dermatologist if the problem continues.

I have dry skin and use some aloe vera and headblade glossy lube after I shave. it seems to help. You could also try a little baby oil or baby oil gel which is cheap.

Good luck with your skin problem. I hope that this will help.

I suggest that besides using a quality moisturizer, see a doctor and ask for a mild cortisone such as "Elecon" cream or ointment.  Use it for short periods.  You can even mix it with your moisturizer.  It won’t cause any long term damage if you use it sparingly.

I had a dry scalp problem for years, and it has disappeared ever since I went sly.  I don’t put the cortisone on my head as I don’t need it there anymore, but I use it on my nose, face and chest when a get a little eczema attack there.  One application and it disappears for about a week.
