Dude no reason to be ashamed at all. I started shaving my head by choice when i was 15yo because i didn't like my hair when it was long and thick. One day after school I didn't give any thought to it, i wanted it shaved and that was that, never looked back since. I started off with a #4 then after a few months dropped it down to a #2, got the #2 for a few years until that wasn't low enough for me anymore, so i went to a #1 then shortly after a #0. You could do the same thing, just shave it down at different lengths gradually over time. everyone will get used to it including you

I'm BBC and I really don't care what others think of it. It's my head and I have to live with it everyday not anyone else.

@Dude, No you certainly should not be “ashamed” to shave bald if you are not actually bald.  I am also BBC (Bald by choice) and I consider this to be just another hairstyle.  How to deal with people’s reactions? – If they laugh, laugh with them but louder than them. They will soon stop.  If they tease, just smile back, and soon everyone will be used to your nice shiny chrome dome and all will turn out well, you will see. :)

I am also recently BBC. I have a full head of hair and experimented with tons of styling products to keep it up. In addition for those of us get the gray going, it takes care of it easily. My BBC look has been a hit in most cases and I agree- it is just a new hairstyle. The only difficult thing is with a full head of hair you will need to keep up the look consistently due to stubble. Not turning back now- enjoy it- it's yours!

Why would you be 'ashamed' of shaving your head ?

I was an anchorman on television when, over the weekend, I shaved my head. The network went crazy and the viewers were stunned...mainly wondering why I'd shave my head. The simple answer is I wanted to and the opinion of a few million viewers meant nothing to me. Decades later, I still shave my head and haven't a clue what it would look like if I let it grow back. But this I know, if I did let it grow, people would be stunned and wonder what happened to my beautiful bald head. PJ

Dude,

I am not bald. I am bald by choice. I have shaved my head daily since January this year.  I've had very positive reactions for just about everyone.  I love being bald. Especially the smooth feeling for the first several hours after the shave.  Just met an old college room mate this weekend. This is the first time that he's seen me bald.  He did do a double take, and did ask why, but that's about it.  We had a nice conversation.  No reason to be ashamed. Once you do it, you'll wonder why you waited so long or fretted over making the decision.

Shave it bald.  Looks good. Feels good.

I also have a full head of hair and am bald by choice.  I like the way it looks and feels.  For whatever reason, it also improves my confidence in myself.    There is nothing to be ashamed of.  Most people that you know will have a positive reaction and if they don't, it doesn't matter because they are the ones that are going to have a problem with what you do no matter what it is.   When I first shaved my head in 1996, in support of a friend going through chemo, it was still unusual.  Now a shaved head is a hairstyle just like anything else.   You're not hurting anyone by doing it, so if you are comfortable with it,  go for it and walk with your head held high!

Dude,

Welcome to SBG.

Do what you want to do. Who cares what other people think. It is what you want to do that counts. You have our support for sure.

I have no regrets for doing it myself.

I've been shaving mine for ten years, since the summer I graduated from high school. My option is shave it for a time and see how it goes

I will never be "ashamed" a little apprehensive in the beginning, yes, but not ashamed.
