First off, I want to say I love shaving my head and it's one of the most pleasant experiences of my life and it's helped me overcome going bald. As of right now, I can't shave my head anymore because it irritates my folliculitis so much. I get about 40 large inflamed bumps all over my head. I've been shaving for 3-4 years and I never had this severe of a problem until now. I have an appointment with a dermatologist to take a look and find out exactly what's going on. At this point, it's not even my shaving technique because I shave so gentle WITH the grain and i used to shave against the grain with 90% less bumps. There is some kind of bacteria on my head that my body is not fighting off and shaving just gets the bacteria in my pores and causes havoc. So for now, I have to stop with my shave, i might have to stop being sly altogether.

Please share your stories and experiences. I'd love to hear them.
I have no experience with your situation but I hope all will be better soon as you see your dermatologist Brian. There are lots of available cure in the market. Do not lose hope.
From what I read, since it is a bacterial infection it should be treatable. So don't give up too quickly.
Although, I also read it can be exacerbated by rubbing (which hair may have provided some insulation again). It may be possible to be "nearly sly" with a really close buzz cut as an alternative.
Please keep us posted so we can all learn through your experience.
Personally, I'm betting on a simple treatment to eradicate the infection and you'll be Totally Sly again.
Hi Brian:
1st of all... I'm sorry 2 hear about your situation. Glad that U got an appointment with a dermatologist. A couple of ways to decrease razor burn is to (immediately after your shave): perform a cold water rinse, ice cube rub until it melts, towel-dry dome, apply witch hazel, and if you really have some razor burn: try using Corizone 10 Lotion.
Well... hope that helps. Please keep us posted and I hope everything goes well.

I was getting fed up of razon burn, too. So I know what you mean.
Using pre-shave oil has now helped. Also not worrying about it, because chances are, most people won't notice it.
I have a similar situation, that is I like have a slick head but I get irritation from shaving it. Basically if I shave every day or two then I will get razor burn and irritation and if I don't shave for a few days then I have to wait out a few days of really bumpy skin as my hair follicles seem to get messed up when hair regrows. So I will be interested to see what your dermatologist says.
To be honest I am hoping that someone figures out an easier way for permanent hair removal, as scraping a sharp bit of metal across the skin is a little out dated. Don't get me wrong I actually quite enjoy the process of shaving, but the irritation I get and the time it takes to do everyday is something I would gladly do without.
