Has this ever been discussed before? When I shave my head or facial hair for that matter I find myself switching from shaving with long strokes and then more short frequent strokes, I feel like the frequent ones might be causing more irritation but they also seem to be more efficient in terms on closeness. I've noticed when barbers use straight razors they use the short frequent strokes. Ive always ways shaved with long strokes but I'm starting to think the other way would be better...is this something that u guys have discussed before or realized or am I going crazy? Lol

It is my belief that you are almost totally sane.
That being said in my personal experience long vs. short depends on which area I am shaving. I do long on the back, top, and sides of my head. Short around the ears and during any touch-ups.
But it is something that seems like personal preference should dictate. Always do what works for you. -

i think long strokes get the job done quicker then short strokes but to cautious take the short route whatever suits you

Look at
Blade buffing and j hooking.
Personally I use short strokes most of the time, don't know why TBH -

As long as you are slow and steady, I don't think it really matters. Whatever it takes to get it smooth and sly is the goal. I tend to use long on top and back and short on the sides and touch ups. Do what is best for you

This pretty much describes how I do it.
Of course, you don't have to adhere to any set standard, Tg. Do what works for you. The more you shave your head, the more it will become second nature, and you won't even really have to think about it. Glad to see you're keeping it sly.

I use short strokes on the back of my head as if I try to do a long stroke all the way up along the curve I seem to always miss some spots.

Same here as well but i'm using a headblade and thats the recommended method - long steady strokes. Otherwise u run the risk of a nick or straight out scalp, especially if ur going in an awkward direction (Sideways as opposed to WTG or ATG). I think of the headblade as the riding lawn mower and then my fusion as the weed whacker, getting into the tight and tricky areas. -
