most reactions i have gotten have been pretty positive, really the opinions that really matter to me anyways are myself and parents. i LOVE IT, but my parents HATE IT, there always telling me it looks stupid cause i'm BBC. i know this is the most supportive group of people out there for my situation. i do not know what to do. like i said i love it but my parents opinion is important to me.

Face it, we all have problems with change in relationships--we want to hang onto what's familiar with no challenges, please!  You're still their little boy, they brushed your hair and sent you off to school, etc., but they controlled what your appearance was and they probably feel that it reflects on them personally.
Fast forward to reality, you have your own ideas about what you want to look like, it's probably happened before but with something a lot less "out there" than your new hair cut.  Give them time and space, but remember you're the one who is the twenty-four/seven guy, and your wishes are at the top of the heap.  Don't let them "guilt" you into doing anything other than what you want provided it doesn't harm anyone.  One day you'll have kids and understand what they are going through.

Parents always want the right thing.  Back in 1977 (I was age 22) I traded my very thinning long combed over hair to a severe buzzcut.  Well, the top was so sparse that the barber scraped it off with a razor.  Barber said he was going to clean up the top and I was so shocked and just nodded my head.  I come home and the reaction was bad.  My older brother (who still has a full head of hair) rips off my ball cap only to freak that there is no hair on top and starts calling me "baldie" names. My Mom (in Polish) exclaims "you're BALD on top!  You could of left some."  The only thing I said to her (in English), "You were after me to get a haircut, you should be happy now".  And my Dad's retort, "Looks good, it's about time you got a decent haircut".

It worked well for me.  Wife was less opposed to a shaved head after 30 days than at day 1 or 2.

Just give it time. I think there are a lot more dynamics at work between parents and child which take longer to come to resolution.

But as noted above, you're the one who lives the life 24 hours a day. Be true to yourself.

Parents are usually the ones that protest the loudest when a guy shaves his head. You're doing this for yourself, not for them. Don't let them control you. Do what you want to do. They will come around in time.

Of course your parents hate it, I'd be concerned if they didn't. Keep in mind that as we age and change, it reminds them of their own mortality. What family doesn't really want to keep that fair haired child that no longer exists? Their rejection of you is, in fact, a tacit acceptance that you have "grown up" and your hair has fallen out, two things they dislike. Be gentle with them, they love you and, tho they may never entirely accept it, make it easier by offering them an option; Find a picture of a guy with a really outrageous head tattoo. Ask them which they would prefer. Share their answers with the group. PJ

By the end of a month my wife was ok with it, but now after 4 months, she's liking it even more as she sees how much I love it.

Let your parents see how much you love a shaved head.  It may win them over.
