Reminds me of how Gene Roddenberry was hesitant to cast Patrick Stewart as captain of the Enterprise, because he figured there'd be a cure for baldness in the future. Stewart said that in the future, nobody would care. We're on our way to that future. 
I had never heard that. My wife always thought he was handsome.
I also read that when he got into theater, he would put on a wig and tell casting directors they were getting two actors for the price of one, bald or hairy.
