I've had hair past my shoulders for over a decade, I'm 27. Was trimming my beard last night and slipped, the guard fell off, and took a chunk of hair out of the side of my head.
So I said screw it and shaved the rest off.

My fiancee was surprised, but said she liked it a lot. Unfortunately my skin reacts ridiculously poorly to a razor (tried MANY things since I was 16, but no matter what I do - if I shave with a razor, I break out and rash basically) so I'm going to have to invest in a good trimmer I suppose.
She's not quite sure she wants me to go totally smooth, and I'm not sure I want to either. I have been thinking about shaving it for the past year or so, but it's a big step... and I kinda forced my own hand here.
Got a lot of comments at work... four co-workers mentioned that I had a great head for being shaved - no bumps or anything, smooth and round. So that gave me a confidence boost.
Pleasantly surprised with how it looks. Now I gotta figure out what to do with this beard.
Welcome aboard. It looks great.
go for the sly dome!
If you don't like you can always let your hair grow back.
I think the "incident" was partly inconsciously, wanted.
You needed an excuse, in a way, a valid reason.
Anyway you look great.
I think beard is right for you, maybe just a litle bit shorter (my opinion, ah)
It looks great shaved dude, suits you.
Keep the beard, looks awesome. Wish my facial hair grew that thick

Looks amazing bruv keep up the good looks
Welcome. The shaved head with beard is a great look
Thanks all.

I've actually been feeling a lot more confident in general with the shaved top over my old hair, and reading the comments here only helps even more. My head is cold in the morning though... guess it'd kind of be like wearing long sleeve shirts 24/7 all your life, then trying a t-shirt on for the first time... forearms would feel cold. I'm sure I'll adjust.

Haha, I think you may be right. My fiancee suspects as much. As I said I have been thinking about it for a while - you can probably see my hairline is receding a bit.
Nice rugged look. Lots of choices with the facial hair and the shaved head. A stark difference between bald and the facial hair will look awesome. Work on finding a razor that won't tear up your face and head when shaving. Good luck with the new look. Remember to follow the thirty-day rule so you can get the real feel of the new look.
