Just Wanted To Say Hi

Hi everyone,Just joined a few minutes ago and thought I'd introduce myself.
I'm 25 and have been losing my hair on top of my head since I was 19. I'll try to get a profile picture up soon.
At first I was OK with it until my friends started noticing it when we went out to a club and I was stood under the bright lights.
I shaved it down to a number 2 all over in 3rd year of university and thought it looked alright but since then I've lost a lot more on top and think I'd look even older than I do now if I had really thick stubble round the back and sides and virtually nothing on top!

Anyway, for some reason I googled "what would I look like bald" before I went to work this morning and one of the first things that came up was a link to a thread on this website. Well, 17 pages of that thread later and I couldn't wait to sign up! You guys seem like the most supportive group of people imaginable, and every comment I was reading was making me feel better and better about myself. Just wanted to sign up to thank you all for that if nothing else

Anyway, as you can probably tell I've been toying with the idea of going sly for years, but work in an environment where I wouldn't be able to wear a hat if I hated my new look. The only possibility I see is doing it right at the start of my Summer holiday so I'd have 2 weeks for it to grow back a bit before going back to work, but the end of August seems like a LONG way away!
Anyway, look forward to getting involved around here. Thanks for reading.

Welcome, you're right where you belong!
But, why:
The only possibility I see is doing it right at the start of my Summer holiday so I'd have 2 weeks for it to grow back a bit before going back to work, but the end of August seems like a LONG way away!
We recommend a 30 day trial so you get used to cleaning up with a blade pretty much everyday. And, unless you're really thinking you'll ever really get used to a fringe--that's a pretty unique idea--why not just hit it now? Step out in front of the mpb, get in charge and get on with life--my bet is that is what you want to do. If you have the itch, scratch it--you'll like it. What's the benefit of waiting till August--except there will be less to shave because it's still falling out, hair by hair, every day! After 30 days you'd be back to a buzz 7 days later--but I don't think you'll do that, I really don't.

Welcome. We're here to answer your questions and help you out. Most of us have gone through the anxiety of wondering what we'll look like bald, how others will react, what happens if we cut off an ear when we first shave, etc.
From what you wrote, I'd suggest shaving now and sticking it out for 30 days. I don't think you'll hate the "new look", but you will need to give yourself and others time to adjust to it. Within that 30 days, you'll know if sly is the look for you - and I can pretty much guarantee that it will be because a smooth dome is very addiciting and is a great self-confidence booster!
So feel free to join us!

Thanks for the quick welcome messages.
Just trying to upload a profile pic now, does it have to be within certain dimensions to be accepted?

Welcome Jimmy, we tend to have a very positive effect on people. It's what we do, and I feel it's the best site on the net for men. Shave it down, check out your handiwork and enjoy the smoothness.
Stand proud and get yourself out there. To quote George Zimmer; "You're going to like the way you look. I guarantee it."

mate, just looking at your profile pic I can tell the bald look will suit you a lot. I say just go for the shave even with work. you'll have to put up with surprised looks and a comment here and there for the first week at the most. after that you'll feel like a million bucks (just started shaving 2 weeks back myself!)

Thanks for the kind words JSydney, I'm loving the look you're sporting in your profile pic and would be over the moon if mine looks half as good when I finally get the courage to do it.
Just wanted to thank you all again, I've never felt so confident that this is the right thing to do. Guess it's all about deciding when to take the plunge now
