Mega Millions
« on: March 30, 2012, 05:58:41 PM »
The country is going crazy right now with a nearly $700 million jackpot at stake.  Did you play?  What would you do if you won $700 million or a fraction of that?

I'm on a pool with four other guys at work. We've been playing for about 9 years. We bhought 25 tickets.

My wife and I bought 10 for ourselves.

If I won that kind of monry I would:

1) Quit my job
2) Talke care of Family and select Friends
3) I could do a LOT of anonymous good with some of that money

I read the stories of the what happens to these mega lottery winners.  Pretty sad stories. Rather like Alfred P. Doolittle (My Fair Lady). A pauper who came into a large sum of money.  Then wishes it never happened.

I don't buy lottery tickets.

Apparently someone from Baltimore won the entire amount.  We'll see if any other winners are announced.

My neighbor won $29 million when I was in high school...haven't seen them since...lol.

Years ago, when the lottery was a paltry 2 or 3 million, I bought a ticket. One of my neighbors and I got to talking about it and he asked me what I would do if I won. I told him that I would retire from my job. He thought that was odd, he had the impression that I was the kind of guy who liked to be busy all the time. (I really don't know where he got that idea.) I told him if I did win and had that kind of money at hand that I wouldn't run out of things to do for quite a while.
Didn't get any tickets for this one, though. But I'm gonna find that person and see if they want to adopt a 59 year old ex-copper. :popo

Played but didn't win.   Had I won would have payed off the mortgages on all family members homes, set up college funds and donated to the church.   Alas, none of that happened. :(

Bought but did not win.  Heard the State Patrol had to be called in for traffic control at some convenience stores on the state line

Like many, many others, I played but didn't win. What I would have done would to buy a very large place in Montana that I could hide away in. At the place, I would build my dream home, have a lake on it or make one, and purchase exotic critters. After buying the home, I would pay off friends/family debts and give my close friends/family a million each. In addition to that, I'd donate to some charities, start a scholarship for farm kids, take a great vacation, and like Paul B, I'd take a road trip around the states to waste some time drinking beer with my Sly family

 Maybe next time...
