I've been dealing with this issue for the past 3 or so months and it's pretty awful. I've been on an antibiotics for the last 2 months (Doxy). Just to be clear on what my head looks like- pretty much like the acne that people get on their face. Theres usually about 10 small bumps scattered around my scalp. My scalp is always at extremes one way or another. It's either oily or really dried out. I need some advice.
It was becoming an increasing issue until I shaved my head. While that hasn't cured it (only been a week now) it does seem that no new ones are appearing and those that were already there are starting to heal.
Are you exfoliating your scalp at all?
Also if you've been on antibiotics for it for 2 months and that is not helping then it may actually be fungal in nature, in which case the antibiotics won't do anything for it.
I know this is an old thread, but I have some new information.
Some folliculitis is viral (herpes simplex I-same one that causes cold sores) and so you may need an antiviral medication like acyclovir. I had viral folliculitis and acyclovir cream cleared it right up in two days.
