Just shaved my head again last night, not the first time ever but I think I'm sticking with it this time. I have shaved it once in the past but was met with ridicule, but this time I'm not going to let it get to me but let them get used to it. A little about me. I'm a 26 yoa male from Indiana always had very thick hair. About a year and a half ago I noticed I had a few patches of hair thinning in random places. Went to the DR and was told I have alopecia. Within 2 weeks I had over 30 spots in my beard and on my scalp of total hair loss. Since then all of my hair has grown back but there are still small spots from time to time. Instead of dealing with it more in the future I decided to shave my head again last night and I think I'm going to keep doing it at least for a while. Currently using the Gillette fusion but think I will switch to the Mach 3 due to cost. I don't think my wife really likes the new look but she will get used to it and I'll see what my 1yr old thinks tonight when I get home from work. Thanks for reading my rant and hope to learn alot from the forum.

Welcome and it takes time but she will get used to it , dont allow people to ridicule your looks .a shaven head is a very masculine thing to do and is clean and shows self respect .

Elmo,

Welcome to the brotherhood of the bald.  Looks like you have a great outlook on the situation you find yourself in.  Like the other guys have said, you will find support here.  In meantime experiment with shaving techniques and learn about all the advantages of having a bald dome.

My wife is getting used to it.  It's been two months and she is less likely to react to touching my bald head!  She does like it better in the first few hours after the shave when everything is smooth and shiny.  By evening, it's more like sandpaper and she's not crazy about that feel.  I prefer the shiny, too.
