30 days later
« on: March 05, 2012, 04:05:12 PM »
My plan was to shave for a few days - just to see. Looking for tips, I came across the SBG forum. 30 daily shaves later, and I'm still sly and enjoying every minute. Thanks for the words of encouragement from everyone here.

I've said goodbye to a grey threadbare rug on top of my head. And said hello to a new confident look. Really didn't think I'd take to it so well.

My shaving routine has got better and I've happily bought a few HeadBlade products along the way. The razor irritations have gone down a lot too.

And today's 30th shave coincided with my first day at a new job. Got my staff pass - my picture was taken under bright lights. You can see my shiny head from space ! Picture attached is the 30th day.

I want to keep this look.  :)

And you should.  It really suits you.  Meeting your new co-workers and having an ID photo taken with a bald head will also make it seem more "permanent."  These people have never seen you with hair and you'll find that the thought of letting them see you with hair will make you feel as nervous as the thought of shaving it all off once did.

Congratulations on having survived Sly Boot Camp.   ;)

Looks sharp with the tie.  Goes great with a bald head.

Congratulations.

Yes, thought of going back to hair now seems as bigger step as shaving it all off 31 days ago !

In the office, the guy who sits across from me has the worse case of MPB, I've ever seen. May be a bit younger than me. Itching to give him some advice on the benefits of shaving his head.

I have a friend who is the same but I'm always afraid he'll be really offended and people will just think I'm being cruel for saying anything. What have you been thinking about saying to your co-worker? My girlfriend thinks it's mean when I point out people's MPB (and that's just to her, without letting them know)

sorry to interrupt the thread, just thought I'd see what you're thinking

Yes, I've thought about talking to him. Something along the lines of 'have you thought of taking the plunge and shaving your hair ?". Don't think he'd be offended.

Judging by his reaction when he was introduced to me, think he may have a few questions for me too, about MPB and shaving ! We're getting on well ... two bald guys working next to each other in the office. And we both cycle to work, too.

That's cause your more aerodynamic, cycling just makes sense. I've also found people ask me more readily than I would point it out to them, I'm a guitar teacher and a few of my students have said that they have been thinking about it and seeing me do it has prompted them to consider slyness as the best option. I guess even if he is offended, if it prompts him to shave then he'll feel better in the end.

Been three days at my new job. And nobody has asked about me being bald. Perhaps they don't care. I'm so upset.  ;)

You could well be right. Been using HeadBlade matte moisturiser before going to work. Perhaps it's time to switch to gloss for the shiny look.

Anyhow, on the bike ride between work and home, dropped by the HeadBlade shop to buy some HeadShed exfoliater. Couldn't wait until the morning, so tried tonight, and the shave was the smoothest I've had so far. Afterwards, applied a HeadBlade gloss finish for the extra shiny look. Picture attached.

Cycling is having another benefit - head is really taking a natural glow. Loving the bald look more and more.

Glad you're enjoying it--but please, even on a bicycle--wear a helmet, it's a mean nasty world out there.
