lurkers and members on hair transplants.
« on: February 23, 2012, 07:26:55 PM »
I know that there are more than a few members that fell for the hair transplant scam(including myself).I am willing to bet that all of them will agree as I do.DONT DO IT!I had hts back in 1999 when i was 19 years old and then again in 2001.At the time i was a kid in college going crazy about losing my hair.As a D1 football player i was in the public eye quite a bit and as you of you know sports locker rooms are the main breeding grounds for ball breaking, who gets layed the most, ect. So i did it and for my college years my hair looked good and the hts were not noticable.Fast forward 5 years after graduation i had lost alot more hair which is standard. When i finally got a mirror that i could see the sides and back of my head i was devastated.I looked like that guy that nobody wanted to be(apperance wise)The next few years were filled with depression. Not only because my hair looked terrible but because that issue led to some others.Even after i had the hts and looked like an attractive guy my age i felt fake.As i matured and grew older this fake feeling became worse and worse.Being a man i was now smart and experienced enough to know the truth that hair on men means nothing. It is just nature taking its course.Just over a year ago i found this site which is filled with educated, kind, and sly people. After reading through what others did/how they handled there Hair transplant nightmare i decided to shave it all off and say "f**k the scars" this is me,Within a few weeks.Over a year later my confidence is higher then its ever been.I went from basically unemployed to part owner of a thriving development company, founder of a start up aparell company, and am dating several women trying to find my queen. And having a ton of fun finding her along the way :)Anyone going through the BS and feel like you need some advice PM me anytime.Mike

excellent. I had a ton of HTs and now using a Pixel fractional laser to improve scars and a new liquid silicone product called Scaraway. My skin is sort of discolored mostly now, whiter on the scar ond normal around them. I was young an dinsecure. I learned my lesson. This is a great site.

Words of wisdom from guys who have been there and done that!
More guys who are considering HTS should read this. Kudos to both of you.

I was told that maderma is good for the scaring but you have to use it daily for 6 months, wait for it to dry ect.basically my dermatoligist said dont do anything and it is almost unoticable.Bit of a understatement but nice comment by him.How are you liking the pixel buzz?If the improvement is drastic i may be interested. How many treatments have you gone through total?cost?thoughts? As you can see i am super light so the sun always just burns me i never tan lol.I feel like the scar blends better with my light skin so when i go to the beach, pool, golf, ect. I am wearing a hat.If we can get some people off this HT bs then that would make me feel outstanding.(especially young men 18-25)they have no clue there just in panic mode and if they have the money they will dive in head first and fall for the scam. The only good canidate IMO is a slightly balding late 30's or older man/woman with thick/dark hair. And even thats a toss up considering that you are allowing someone to cut the hell out of your head and may deal with the mental aspects involved with HTs especially after its done.I really think that if we can get some comments from other members that had HTs it will help alot of people make a more educated choice. The mistakes we have made and the regrets we have in life depending on how we handle them build charector and make us better people! Have a good/productive day fellas! The weekend is upon us!I am going to take some souls at the poker table this weekend....:)What is everyone else getting into?

The essential fact about male pattern baldness--androgenic alopecia--is that it is a progressive issue, meaning that there is no way to know where it will stabilize--if it ever does.  This fact is never communicated to the potential patient of the HT process.  So no matter when a guy undergoes the procedure, the mpb process continues leading to the result that the baldness "reoccurs."
The other essential fact about mpb that the purveyors of the HT process never inform their patients--mpb is not a disease, defect or disability.  That means there is nothing to "cure."  All they offer is a temporary potential coverup at a high price.  The coverup may or may not be effective from an esthetic perspective.  When it fails to reach a reasonable level of effectiveness it is even more destructive of the self image than the onset of the genetic condition.  The statement, "The physician must be able to tell the antecedents, know the present, and foretell the future - must mediate these things, and have two special objects in view with regard to disease, namely, to do good or to do no harm"  is found in the Hippocratic writing Epidemics, and should be followed by the doctor.  HT by its practice violates this maxim of medical treatment because the ht process erroneously treats a genetic predisposition as a disease.  It my opinion that it is done solely to enrich the practitioner of this barbaric process.

Other than that I don't have an opinion. >:D

I deleted my first post by mistake, but I see that you've already visited a dermatologist. When I had surgery back in December for a three inch gash (benign scar tissue) and an injection for a spot on my neck that kept getting boils and/or cysts. Two dermatologists turned me down before the third decided to perform it. I ended up with seven stitches combined in the two spots, and he gave me a prescription for Lustra cream to help fade the scars. Two months removed, I see a marked improvement in both areas of my scalp, though it is almost impossible to get 100% improvement. Given that you have light skin, you may be at a slight advantage or disadvantage depending on how badly discolored your scars look. Two suggestions: One, it doesn't hurt to get a second, or even third opinion and it doesn't hurt to shop around. Two, if you feel that the scars are not that noticeable to other people's naked eyes and you are okay with it, it may be better to leave well enough alone. People who worry about others' imperfections need to get lives anyway. Good luck and take care!

I am ''shocked'' that they did the procedure at 19.................another crappy thing is you always need more than one ''procedure''.............to the tune of thousands. I do believe however that more people are getting the notion that these surgeons are not out to help you. The sly look is so commonplace today that maybe these doc's will be out of business in the near future.

Yup.At 19 i was ill informed by bosley. They told me i would only need 2 or 3 procedures for my life lol.In 1999 there was next to nothing on the inernet on this subject.I feel if i were 19 today in the same spot i would never do it because of sites like this that expose the truth of this scam.Unethical buisness in the HT field is standard.

I wish that were true, but I fear that it is not. There will always be big money to be made by preying on people's insecurities.
