Cut the HELL out of my head
« on: January 22, 2012, 05:38:45 PM »
I dont know what I did but when it happened, I knew it was bad - a big gash in the back of my head.  Blood was everywhere.  Took 30 minutes to stop the flow completely.  So - any tricks in helping it to heal quickly.  Probably wont be able to shave til it heals a bit and that all it will take for me to go back to the hair.

I hate when I do that!

Clean it out (peroxide). Put some anti-bacterial cream on it.

Make sure that it's clean at all times.

Don't shave over it until it's healed.

Neosporin and gauze helps (don't wear the gauze in public) If it helps you can use Neosporin and a clear band-aid (the patch) not the long one. when I gashed the top of my head it took three days to heal...Good luck!

sad to hear that!
you can still shave and just avoid that part of your head ( if its just a small cut).
in my case, time healed it all.

Nobody mentioned styptic pencils yet. Yes, I know that they burn like absolute hell but nothing stops the bleeding like the good old styptic pencil.

I have a styptic I use but on the rare occasion I get a HeadBlade gash that styptic pencil does absolutely no good. Those pencils are designed for nicks, not near fatal wounds!!

Gotta agree - styptic pencils are fine for little nicks or a minor slip, but not for any deep gashes or cuts.

I agree with Harleyman...you gotta be tough as leather to use a styptic pencil on a big wound.

So it seems a bit better today.  I went and shaved because I knew if I skipped today that would be it and we wouold be back on the hair grow out.  Still want to be BBC at the moment.  So I shaved lightly over the spot so I didnt end up with a noticable unshaven spot.  Stung a little but didnt bleed.

Well I come back to this forum to ask this question and it's the latest post already  :XX
Still have 1 question tho.. When I cut myself I only cut myself from one side (sorry for my english, I'll try to explain).. I basically cut off a triangle shaped piece of skin but it's still stuck to my head.. So do I leave the leftover skin there and cover the wound with it or do I cut it off and let my head produce new skin? Hope you understand what I'm trying to ask  :/O

I would say it depends on how much skin is still attached to the rest of your head.  In short, if you can pull it off with little effort, then pull it off, otherwise leave it on.
