Update on my scalp problem
« on: January 05, 2012, 07:55:51 PM »
Hey, everyone.
I just wanted to post an update on my scalp problem that I posted about last week. I'd also like to thank those of you who were so fast to lend me some advice and support.

Anyway, I went to my doctor and showed him all the little red, inflamed pimples on my scalp. He told me I have scalp folliculitis. I'm not really sure how I got it or if there is even a specific reason at all. He put me on a month long cycle of Doxy to get rid of it. I've also ordered an all natural shampoo from Miracle ii that I've heard great things about.

So far, so good though -- in terms of my head healing. Some things I've been doing to try and control my scalp problem is wipe my head down with salicylic Oxy pads a few times a day (especially after working out at the gym), drink plenty of water, wash my head with a bar of Aveeno soap until I get the shampoo that I ordered, and just try and reduce my stress level.

I took a picture of my head at it's worst last week and I'm going to take another picture when I'm healed up. I don't want anyone to be bummed out if they have the same problem as me and don't know what it is.

Thanks again!

Hey Carl,
Welcome. Glad you're enjoying the process of keeping the dome smooth. Sorry you're dealing with all the stuff you've got going.
As Saint mentioned in your initial thread, you might be dealing with seborrheic dermatitis, which I have. I've gotten complete relief from any of the pain, itching, and blemishes associated with seborrheic dermatitis as a result of shaving my head. Bear in mind, it was a little rough initially as my scalp got used to the routine of daily shaving. However, it was well worth it. A clean scalp (including freedom from the tyranny of hair....Thanks SlyBear) is a healthy scalp. Just make certain you apply some type of post shave moisturizer. In your case, it sounds like some kind of mid-day cleaning might be in order as well.

As far as doctor's prescriptions, I've yet to find anything that helped with a scalp condition better than shaving. Again, I'm not a doctor, but I am living proof that shaving your dome is the greatest relief from a painful scalp condition.

Good luck, dude and feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions!

Agonizing over what cannot be is an insult to what is.
