Has anyone else experienced this???

Well, I'm on my 5th day of being totally SLY and to this point I have felt extremely comfortable (and dare I say even a little proud) in being out in public. But last night I had to take my son to a local "Great Clips" to get his monthly hair cut and it felt so strange. The place was packed with guys (some of them balding, others not) and I felt like a fish out of water. I think it was the feeling that "I don't fit in here".
Anyone else had a similar experience???

Can't say I have. Although, someone (probably Noner) posted a list of things to say to a barber (or hair salon if you're into that kinda thing) and walk in a bit angry, point to your SLY dome and say "OK, I want to see the manager".
I think the strange feeling you had in the barber shop was one of pity for those men that haven't embraced the SLY look. Plus, they're probably all Chiefs fans that realize they're going to lose in the first round of the playoffs year after year. Oh wait, I'm a Raider fan .... we don't make the playoffs anymore.
All kidding aside, not "fitting in" at a barber shop is (in my opinion) no big loss.
Have a great Wednesday.

There is a thread somewhere about similar situations at the barber shop. The kids and I went with my wife to get her haircut, and when the lady asked who it was for, I said "Me!" before my wife could answer. We all had a good laugh and the wife got her locks trimmed as usual.

I don't have any experiences to share about the barber shop because I've been trimming/shaving my own hair for over 15 years. But I, as well as a lot of guys here I'm sure, can relate to similar situations just being out anywhere. I've been rockin' the sly look for a little over a year now and I still get the occasional stares when out in public. I usually don't let any of it bother me at all but every now and then when I take notice to it I get that feeling like everybody is staring at my dome. I sort get that uneasy feeling of being the only one in the place with no hair. But that doesn't happen often. What I really like is when I'm out somewhere and there is another baldy, or a few, and you get that little feeling like you're not alone.

Hey, I'm an OK guy ..... just ask me
.
As far as football teams go, when I'm traveling and tell people I'm part of the Raider Nation, before they turn their heads away in disgust, I tell people "Hey, there's 32 teams to choose from you can cheer for whoever you want. I choose the Raiders". I was born in Oakland and we had season tix for years. It's a little tough now, given I'm living 120 miles away and we have two kids that take away all our fun money.
I'm pretty excited about the new coaching staff. I don't follow college football all that much, but people that do are giving high praise to the staff that the Raiders have assembled. Sh*t, it can't get much worse than the past few years. Plus, Moss is gone!
FYI, one of my best friends is a "Chefs" fan. In all honesty, he's more of a zealot/in-your-face guy than I'll ever be. Probably a direct result of his double-wide upbringing.

Ok, I guess you're still alright. I think both teams are probably in a re-building mode right now.
But here in KC. We LOVE TO HATE THE RAIDERS!!!!

You're not alone. There's annual Raider Hater weeks in SD and Denver as well.

My dentist said she almost didn't recognize me with my head shaved. I joked that I needed to get on Rogaine. The fish-out-of-water situations are fun.

Hey SLYin KC, I think that's pretty cool. You look great, and it's like you're saying to everyone there (especially the balding dudes), "Hah! I'm done with that. Who are you fooling? Grow a pair!" (Sorry if any ladies are offended.)

Can't say I ever felt out of place SLYinKC, but that "proud" feeling hits me every time I got a nice fresh shave and go out. Kinda like to show it off. Let the world know you are proud of being sly

SLYinKC:
I can see how you might get that feeling. My barber was tightening my #1 buzzcut this weekend and everyone else in the other chairs had more of a "style" thing goin'. This one mom was there and told the barber next to mine not to cut her kid's hair as short as mine and pointed to me.
Ouch.
He still asked if it was time to break out the razor, though because he knows I'm close.
Stuff like that comment probably keeps me on the fence from telling him to peel it down like a grape. But I'll get there with a little time and encouragement from SBGs. Appreciate you guys letting us learn from the SLY among you.

Feels good to walk in, I usually drop off my step-son and let the stylist know he wants his cut just like mine! Funny to watch him worry as he walks to the chair!
