AAAaaaaAAH!
« on: December 13, 2011, 04:22:21 PM »
So yesterday, in a moment of madness, I bought a Remington titanium microflex rotary shaver to see how it went on the old noggin. That thing ate the back of my head and neck like it was delicious! And of course, after using it once, I discovered that right in the back of the manual, it says 'not for use with head hair'... not on the box of course, or notified by the salesperson. And now I can't return it, so I've put it up on trademe (our version of ebay) to see if anyone will buy it.

Rant over.

What are your opinions on rotary shavers for use on the dome? And have any of you had the same experience? Let me know!

I have not tried any electric shaving device yet, it is always straight razors by a barber or disposable safety razors if I shave by myself. I feel sorry that you spent money on something you cannot use since the bald/ beard combination really looks good on you. I hope somebody will be interested to buy your rotary shaver. Best regards.

I blade shave at night and use a Norelco rotary at lunch. No qualms with with Norelco at all.

I've used both a Remington and Norelco rotary shaver to shave my head and both worked fine.  Though, like a traditional blade, you don't want to apply too much pressure or you'll get eaten up!

I used to use a cheap Norelco rotary on my head when feeling really lazy. It was fine if I just wanted a quick and dirty shave. For some reason electrics seem fine on my head, but really irritate my neck.
Just say no to rugs!

same, but when you say it irritates your neck, it was just downright offensive to mine. And the fact that there's no lubrication left me feeling itchy even after using some lotion. I'm sticking with my headblade.

Sorry to hear about this five, but as I always say; nothing shaves you better than a blade.

I believe when you use an electric you have to use pressure, and probably lots of it, so of course you will end up with irritation. Chalk it up for a lesson learned, sell it and stick with your HB. It's much quicker and easier.

No more moments of madness, lol.   ;)

I used a phillips phillishave (the twin rotary thing) years ago on my head, used it once and my scalp went all dry and flaky like it had a massive dose of dandruff. I decided then that i wouldn't use an electric shaver on my head.

That said my dad uses one and loves it but i can't stand it.

Just curious, you wrotew you Dad uses an electric, you mean on his head ?  You have written in the past how your parents were against your shaved head. It must be great to have a dad who also shaves his head.

Yeah my dad shaves his head, talk about a bit hypocritical of him. He does it pretty much sly now but not with a razor like most of us.

I used an old Norelco 6 years ago when I first went BBC...after I've used a succession of Panasonics. A Panny is finer than a frog’ s hair split three ways.

Panasonic is the way to go. Use one everyday. Works great. No irritation.
