DEAR SBG... So I just got back from the barber.... ;)
« on: December 13, 2011, 04:04:49 PM »
Did it!

I think I've been mentally preparing myself for how I'd look shaved for a few weeks now.. ever since I made the decision that I was going to DO it soon, like this month. I think it doesn't look too bad :)

anyway what is a Chief post without a question or two right??

I've had a pretty sensitive scalp most of my life. The barber did to a straight blade shave. Someone in my other thread said that they might not get it as close as I want. This is quite true. I can still see some colour on my head and when I rub it I can feel a sort of smooth roughness. I guess I should go shave myself now...

I'm a little worried though. If you read any of my other threads you'd see me say that I suck at shaving my face, hardly ever do it. I bought the whole line of headblade pre/post shave products... Im going to go throw some of the after shav moisturizer on. but I don't want to risk irritating it more. I don't mind how it looks tomorrow and thursday but its my birthday friday... church sunday... xmas incoming, etc!

Should I go shave right now? I'm kinda pumped to and I have the right products but I don't want to irritate it more and risk it.
If not... what should I do!?

as always... bless you for your advice/good words

-Chief

Chief,

Congrats on taking the plunge!  You now know what you look like as a bald guy, no more imagining it (which never really works anyway.)

If your scalp feels a little sensitive, I'd advise waiting until tomorrow morning to shave again.  As much as you may want to do it now, just enjoy the look and the slightly stubble that's left.

Chief, congratulations on the decision. My barber have the skill of shaving my head really close and smooth with a straight razor, too bad I live in the Philippines, Id gladly recommend you to him. Anyway, I agree with npsbg to give some time for your scalp to recover since you are a first time shaver.
Since you have all the tools in shaving your head, I know you will do just fine when you take the razor to your scalp tomorrow. I suggest you to do your final rinse after shaving with a ice cold water, it would not hurt to run an ice cube a couple of times on your freshly shaven head. Best regards.

Hey man thx for the kind words
Actually I disagree heh.. at least in my case. I think that once I KNEW I was actually going to DO it this month .. no matter what... (this being a HUGE deal and something I've obsessively worried about for at least a year)... I think I started to picture myself.. and apparently quite accurately.. without hair every time I looked in my bathroom mirror. Call me silly ... I agree.. but when I finally saw myself shaved today I thought "wow... guess you were pretty accurate"!

I'm glad to say I think it looks damn spiffy.

Thanks for the advice all the way from the phillipines bro! If I can get my head looking as tanned/smooth as yours I'm goin in the right direction.
Yeah I've watched a lot of vids and most people say to splash with cold water after done and before putting on my headlube. I also appreciate your advice on waiting till tomorrow morn to shave.. I think you're right and I'll do that.
The ice cube thing though thats new... I'm gonna try it! :XX

Running ice cube all over your freshly shaved dome is a great sensation to experience. You will feel the cold tightening up your scalp. One of life's simple pleasures.  O0

hey buddy. congratz.
I suggest you to shave it right on (a day after you went tot the barber).
It won't grow that much, so you'll have to deal with less of it.
take it slow at the very beginning.
ow, and, headshave is WAY EASIER than faceshaving X_X
