I started losing my golden locks when I was 19. I had rather long hair which I grew to kind of hide behind as I have always had low self esteem in the looks department. Not that it ever stopped me doing things, always the social guy I still went out with friends, to cinema, clubs etc. But, having long hair felt like a safety net of sorts.
So, when I found out I was losing my hair, I added it to the low self esteem folder. I started wearing hats ALL the time (trust me, you cannot look good in a suit and a beanie). This trend went on, and I lost more and more hair. My girlfriend at the time told me over and over it won't change her opinion of me...but we have since then broke up (long story, aren't they always).
Well, I am 24 now, and about 3 weeks ago, getting my comb over cut, I looked in the mirror and said to the hairdresser, 'shave it off, I'm done with pretending'. So, she did. And, against all my initial gut feelings of what it would be like with no hair, I feel great!
Yes, some find it easy to deal with, some fear it. And I feared it, a lot. But gotta tell ya, it feels so much better.
One question I ask myself though, 'Why in Novemeber? It's cold!'
Thanks to the people on this website, although I was not a member until recently, I came on here and read other posts. They helped.

hey and welcome.
I also shaved it on winter time (this year), and it's not that bad.

Why not November? Anytime is a good time to dump the combover cut!

Congrats on having the guts to just make a decision and do it!
With regards to the cold, you still have hats, no? Now you can use them for their intended purpose rather than something to hide under.

Welcome, and congrats on the bold decision. You can never go wrong, when you go sly. Shaving it off in the cold winter months isn't that bad when you wear a warm hat when outside (plus, when you take it off... NO HAT HAIR! BONUS!!!). Your head will get used to the chill also. Trust me. Mine has seen -65 with a -75 wind chill, now 32 degrees feels nice on the noggin.

Welcome, good to hear you're free of the combover. Hair was the same for me, but now I'm sly I can't stop smiling

Way to go with taking control and just doing it Lateralus, great choice. Now you can wear your hat for it's intended purpose: to keep you warm.
