fitted caps vs. adjustable caps
« on: December 05, 2011, 07:31:49 PM »
Hey, Slys (and Slyettes if there are any) I know that most of you all, like myself, have no problem showing off our bald pates..but if I am going to be out in the sun for an extended period (i.e. cutting grass, painting, playing/watching sports) I like to wear a cap. I have several fitted Starter caps that I had monogrammed while overseas, and I also have a few adjustable caps (the Blockhead caps from the early 90s for example). IMHO, the bald man who can't/won't shave his head should wear a fitted cap because nothing says tacky like a bald man whose cranium is still exposed above the strap of the adjustable cap, and as for sly guys, they could probably wear either, but I like to wear a fitted cap just to keep 'em guessing once in a while(I wear the adjustable sometimes with certain outfits/sporting team shirts)....What about you folks? Do you wear a fitted cap? adjustable? some other type hat/cap? no headgear at all regardless of the weather? (BTW I'm a reservist so I have to wear caps/kevlars/berets as part of the uniform) What say you?

When it's cold I wear a scully or one of my coo-el flat caps. When I'm out on the water I wear an old boony hat from the corps...when I want to look smart in the summer I wear a beautiful straw I bought in Panama City. But most of the time I want to show off the head that's slick enough to slide on barb wire.

I'm not too much of a hat person but I'd love to find a fitted cap that looks good.  I only have adjustable right now.

I go with Flexfit type hats.  I feel they are more comfortable than the standard fitted hat.  I can't do the adjustable.

I like a flexfit cap too, but some can be too tight. tight enough to leave a ring on my head! they look nice, but a adjustable just had a nicer fit.

This morning, I went for my 1.5 mile run and I ran into this bald guy....cool cat except for two things: One he was wearing an adjustable hat but you could see the bald spot between the hat and the adjustable strap Two. He was wearing a ponytail! Look, I have nothing against a guy with horseshoes or "donut holes" as I used to call them but bald with a ponytail is one of the worst things a guy could do-even if he is a biker-No offense to guys with ponytails, IJS there has to be a better alternative...

I agree. Ponytails are not a good idea.

I prefer to go without a hat; but if I am outside for any length of time, I will wear a hat for protection from the cold and/or sun.
When wearing a baseball cap, I much prefer the fitted because they are classier.  I do have a couple of adjustable caps I got cause I needed one on the run or because I wanted to sport a particular logo and I couldn't fine a suitable fitted one.

I have to agree, fitted hats are a lot more comfortable and look like you choose it for the style, not just as a way to cover your head
