Murph, Welcome...
If you want to do it....what's holding you back?
I'll repeat the most basic consideration:
Do it....if you don't like it or if your life takes a downward spiral....it grows back....
Pretty simple, man...

RobMeister, It's easier said than done.
Murph just needs the right amount of support and some coaxing to set him on the SLY path.
Hey Murph, You're 50 yrs old....
....old enough to have the guts to do what you want you really want to do
.....and if you would like to shave your head, just do it.
.....listen to me and the Robmeister.
We wouldn't steer you wrong.
Many of us here started off as procrastinators.
Just take the leap and shave.
You won't be sorry with the outcome.

Hey Murph. Alot of people have reasons they do not want to shave their heads. They seem big at the time but once you shave and see the difference the reasons seem petty and I found myself laughing at some of mine. If you check through some of the forums here and have particular concerns that do not relate, just list them here and you will get suggestions/answers from members. Being Sly is a great way of life and their are great people in this community that are willing to help. Welcome to SBG.

Murph, I would bet you that the first thing you think when you shave your head is "What took me this long?" Go for it bro!

Welcome Murph! I'm sure you'll like the sly look and wonder what took so long. It seems to make people look younger as well. That's a positive right?

Welcome to SBGs murph! You won't regret it after you take the plunge! I have a friend who just turned 50 last year and already looked like he is in early 40s...then he went SLY and looked even younger still!

Okay... the rest of you guys play "good cop" and I'll do "bad cop" okay? Here we go...
Quit being a wus Murph and just do it! How was that? Did I do okay? Too harsh?
All kidding aside Murph, just do it bro. You WILL like it! Give it a month so everyone can get used to it (including you), if you don't like it I'll give you your money back!

Hey Murph, welcome to SBG
You've been hearing some great advice from some of the experienced members of the group. Just wanted to chime in as a relative newbie...shaving 2 weeks.
A couple of things I've learned:
Reactions have been uniformly positive.
The sly look looks better than a partially bald head or a comb over or a "hair system"
Most look younger (10 years) after going sly.
Shaving is fun and you know you are getting a sharp , bold look as opposed to trying to make the best of a look that really isn't working too well.
After you do it you realize it isn't all that big a deal.
Once you start thinking about...it is inevitable you are going to do it....so just go ahead, it will grow back if you don't like it. (Choose a long weekend or a vacation like I did) . As RazorX says, "resistance is futile"
Consider doing the virtual headshave as has been suggested. It will give you an idea of how you will look, but you will look even better than the virtual picture.
Good luck with your decision.

Murph,
The guys have said it all. I will be shocked if you don't wonder 'why didn't I do this sooner?' as soon as you 'do the deed.' If you are not quite sure, buzz it down (if you don't already have it that way). Once you do that, it's an easy next step to complete the process. You will probably be surprised that it is usually a non-event to others. Looking younger is also a positive. Just look at some of the before-and-after pics. No one I have seen looks older.

go for it murph...look at it this way....when people see you now they say " wow...that guy is bald".....when you go sly ..they will say.."wow..that guy is bald"....so why not be happy and not have to worry about hair anymore instead of clinging to the scraps and stressing over it....post up a pic ..we'll give you an honest opinion.

Pretty much echoing what everyone else has said...Just go for it and if you don't like it grow it back. But I'll guarantee you that you will love it and wonder why you have waited so long.
