new guy!
« on: December 02, 2011, 04:38:33 PM »
Hey all,

thought id better get around to introducing myself as ive been lurking for a few weeks now :)

Unfortuantly for me i started to lose my hair when i was 17, not so good! i was in college at the time, fully into good ol' rock and metal and sporting some long locks to show! Its something ive had to deal with for the past 8 years, well during that time ive been through all the stages of denial, anger etc and really didnt like what was happening to me! First it was alittle thinning and receading until now, at 25, i have pretty much no hair on top at all! :O. To top it off both my brothers have a full head of hair and even better, so does my 47 year old dad! so you can imagine the grief i get off them! I also have a 3 year old son who has the thickest most curliest hair you have ever seen, believe me! so im surrounded by people doing the "shampoo advert hair flick" haha!

well 3 days ago i decided id had enough of it, and after alot of reading on this forum i took the plunge, id been using clippers to shave my hair down as short as they would go for a good year now so this was it! razor in hand and shaving foam on head, i took the first glide knowing i couldnt go back! to be honest i wish i had done it years ago it felt awesome! even got the gf to tidy the bits id missed! well now im on my third day and just finished my second clean shave and dont think ill ever go back, my mum had no comments so now im just waiting to return to work once my foots better ( another story!) to see how they all react there, ill get some pics up at some point but just wanted to share my experience and say thanks for the push to finally take the plunge and do it :D

Dan

Welcome Dan, great to hear you took control and shaved it off. It's the best way to handle mpb, and I see you found out what most of the guys here have also said once they finally shaved: " to be honest i wish i had done it years ago it felt awesome!"
Enjoy the new found freedom.    O0

I'm hanging out for that feeling too Dan, glad to hear you went for it... I almost can't be bothered waiting for my beard to grow back now, I bought the head blade and I want to just do it. I was the same as you on the hair length front, glad to hear it worked so well for you, hope I'm the same!

trying to stick to the 30 day rule that you have set up but cant see it being a problem, also had a visit from my dad today and i didnt get any stick as i thought i would have! just the usual i look like a thug haha! so all good so far!

Welcome--and as the Koz has said, it looks way better.  You were almost a 7 on the Norwood Hamilton Scale:

It's always better to be in control.  Frankly from the sly you, I wouldn't have picked the balding you out of a line up!  You've lost some serious aging--like 10-15 years.

Hey Dan!  Welcome to SBG!  Thanks for sharing your story with us.
People are not limited by the circumstance that they are born in. They are limited by the size of their dreams. Show them that their dreams can have no limits and in turn their accomplishments can be limitless.
