What's up everyone? My name is Harry and I am nearing 40....started losing my hair at about 26 on the front so I started getting shorter haircuts...but even then I had a gash on the back of my head (I think it was from a poor haircut by a poorly trained barber in my teens). even with the low fade haircuts, the gash was still recognizable...so in 2008 I started clippering it all the way down and then last year I started using razors. I actually felt younger after I started doing this! As for the gash, when I go sly, it seems a little less noticeable. At one time, I was considering surgery on the gash in the back of my head, but now I am not so sure...On another note I am a two-time Iraqi war veteran who is still serving in the Reserves and I make sure to go sly for every drill weekend...Aside from having a couple of dark spots/gashes (not sure whether to see a doctor/dermatologist on this) I like being sly and can't envision myself with hair anymore...Glad to have finally joined this site after snooping for so so long! Thanks for having me!

Harry, first off, welcome to the site. But most of all, thanks for your service to our country.  I would see a doctor for the dark spots.  Better safe than sorry.

Welcome--always nice to have another Sly Bald Guy around. 

As a veteran of numerous basal and squamous cell skin cancers and a few pre-cancerous lesions to boot--strongly urge you to see the doctor and use a UVA & UVB sunscreen on that dome.  Since you've served in areas with strong sun issues it is just prudent practice.
