shave with oil

i saw in a store in the shave/razor department & somethin caught my eye. it was "Shaving Oil".

Directions said wet your head, and use 3 to 5 drops, & shave your head. 

does anybody on here shave with oil?

Were you at Walmart by any chance?  They have a product called Shave Secret that I and many others here use.  It's fantastic.  I use it as a pre-shave oil.  After scrubbing my head in the shower ( I use Gillette Thermal Face Scrub) I put a few drops in my hands and rub it into my head.  I then apply shaving cream and I'm good to go.  It works excellent and allows for a smooth shave with zero irritation.  Give it a try.

One other thing I forgot if you're looking for another brand to try.  I've used the pre-shave oil from The Art of Shaving and it was also fantastic.  More expensive than Shave Secret, but a little goes a long way.

I use Shave Secret too.  I first put some (not much!) Head Slick on a shaving brush, put a couple of drops of the Shave Secret on top of the Slick, then work up a lather on my dome.  Results in a real smooth shave.

yea it was in Wal-Mart. i thought it was a gimmick to be honest.

I'm the guy that makes a routine and stricks to it. I hate people trying to change my plans!

 I used to use only oil to shave my dome but quit due to extreme clogging of the razor. I even only used olive oil from our kitchen. It worked great, the razor glides smoothly over your dome plus you see where you're shaving.
Nowadays I use Baby Oil, it's way cheaper than the Shave Secret Stuff, you get a large bottle for next to nothing. I have it in the shower, rub a few drops just before exiting the shower and then on top shaving gel. Works great

i've just finished shaving with the "shave secret". i was VERY impressed. possibly the BEST shave i've had since i started shaving. 

i prewashed my head.

i got my head wet

applied 3 to 5 drops like it says.

shaved like normal.

& i didn't bleed NOT 1 TIME.

I'm instantly HOOKED.   

after that, i cold rinse, put some aloe vera & bump stopper. & i'm done.

on a scale from 1 to 5. i'd give it a 4.5/5

This morning I used Shave Secret with Bald Guyz Gel and shaved my head and face with my Panasonic.
