Last night, I was making myself some dinner. I was standing at the kitchen counter preparing it and I felt very thirsty, and I wanted a diet coke. I like diet coke (or any soft drink) to be ice cold, but being a moron, I'd neglected to put any cans in the fridge.
In my garage, I have a large freezer. Its huge. Way too big for my house, so its in the garage. It came with the house and I dont use it too much because I dont eat a lot of frozen food, and I dont buy too much food that needs to be frozen.
To get to the garage (and therefore the freezer) from my kitchen, I open the sliding patio doors on the side of my kitchen, step out into my garden, take two or three steps to the side of the garage, and then I open the side door of the garage, and walk in. (My garage has two doors - the one I'd drive my car through, if my garage werent stuffed to the roof with crap, and a small side door which leads onto the garden, and from there, on to the kitchen)
So I went to the garage to get some ice cubes to put into my diet coke. I took a glass out there with me, I filled the glass with ice cubes, I closed the freezer door, walked back to the kitchen, and poured the diet coke into the glass.
I then walked back to the kitchen counter to continue preparing my dinner (which was a bowl of soup and some salad), and on the kitchen counter was a Cornish Pasty.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pasty#Cornish_PastyI havent eaten a cornish pasty since I was about 10. I got food poisoning from one so I havent eaten one since, in fact just thinking about them makes me feel ill. I havent bought any cornish pasties, my freezer doesnt contain cornish pasties, and I havent had anyone at the house since Friday afternoon, and I know he didnt have a cornish pasty with him, and even if he'd left one on my kitchen counter, it wouldnt have taken me two days to notice it sitting there.
I am totally freaked. Where the hell did this thing come from? My front door was locked, my windows were all locked (its quite cold here so the windows are all closed and the heating is turned on), and I've been alone in the house since Friday afternoon, plus I know for damn sure that when I went out to get the ice cubes from the freezer, there most definitely wasnt a cornish pasty on the kitchen counter. Even if my dog had found it in the street and brought it into the house, he's way too small to reach the kitchen counter, and there were no bite marks on the packaging or anything. Its as if someone walked into my house in the 15 seconds it took me to get ice cubes from the garage, left it in the kitchen, and then left themselves!
Any ideas welcome? I didnt dream it because I threw the pasty into the rubbish (trash) and its still there this morning!
