Hey fellas, I had originally shaved my head for St. Baldricks this past spring in honor of my son fighting Leukemia. Then I shaved it again this summer to make him feel better about being bald. (He's doing great- one more week of treatment and he's done!)
Problem is: I was on steroids for a breathing problem when I shaved in the summer and I really screwed up. Blood came down my head, I was shaking, I pulled skin up like I was peeling a potato! The worst "slices" grew back, while a couple others stayed. To this day, a few months later, the hair is growing a bit in two sliced areas, but they are mostly bald patches. I've attached a picture down below on the worse one. You can see hair, but barely... (No pun intended...). I don't know if it's not growing due to scar tissue, or because I've developed a weird OCD thing where I'm always touching it or scratching it and maybe that's why it's not growing back.
I've been shaving my head close because as my hair gets longer, the more the spot shows. My wife hate me bald because it reminds her of my son's bald stage, but I love it.
I think if I go very short or bald, maybe it will grow with the new batch of hair - as long as I stop TOUCHING it! Or am I screwed? I know hair doesn't grow where there are scars, but a) I don't know if it's really a scar because some hair is growing back b)hair grew where I sliced myself in other areas.
Any advice? (besides not shaving while on steroids?)
