...why am I so shocked to hear about the death of Steve Jobs? Its 4am here and I just had a newsflash appear on my computer screen from the BBC.

It's very sad as he was a revolutionary. I wasn't surprised though because he's been very ill lately and didn't look well.

We've lost an insanely great innovator and visionary.

I agree with you both.
I dont know why I'm so surprised, because he obviously wasnt well. Maybe its just a stark reminder that life can be very short. He was only a few years older than me, so maybe I'm just being reminded to live my life to the fullest.

Its the top story on all the news channels here. The BBC just had a 30-minute segment about his life.

I agree. I've been upset all morning. Obviously I didnt know the guy, but I know how much of an impact he had on my day-to-day life.
And its always sad when the world loses a genius. Whether he was a technological genius or a business genius, either way, he was a genius.

I think I might have to buy myself a gift to cheer myself up

A light went out in this world yesterday. May he rest in peace.

I agree.
I think the other thing that has been upsetting me about this is that when he resigned from Apple a couple of months ago, he probably knew he only had weeks to live. Obviously there are other people in that same boat, but I cant imagine what that must be like. To go through the day, knowing that in a few short days or weeks, you're going to be six feet under.
How the hell do you spend your last days? I think if it were me, I'd just take an overdose and get it over and done with. I'd go nuts otherwise.

There are quite a few that have felt like you and have taken that way out. Who is to say what is right or wrong.

I guess people have to do what they have to do, but for me, I think I'd take the selfish way out, because I wouldnt want to spend my last few weeks in a nut house. If a doctor said to me "you have a month to live", I think I would probably go insane right there on the spot.

It is a tragic loss for the world. He was truly a revolutionary and visionary thinker!
