Do you guys have a chat function on this forum, or do you use Yahoo (etc) to chat with each other, or do you not chat with each other apart from on the forum? Just curious :)

Same here. Though I have added some people to my FB friends from this site.
Life has three aspects: Paradox, Humor, and Change.

Paradox: Life is a mystery; don't waste time figuring it out.
Humor: Keep a sense of humor, especially about yourself. It is a strength beyond all measure
Change: Know that nothing stays the same.

Thanks ;)

I've never come to terms with FB. I signed up for it and received messages from people I hadnt seen since 1982 to tell me how much they'd missed me, including one very demented girl who had an epileptic fit every time I was with her. I upchucked at the thought of re-visiting my youth, then spent two years wondering what FB is actually for.

I know, Im weird :D

Not at all--there's lots of us who just don't get the idea of plastering the world with inane pictures and information--an electronic and perpetual holiday greeting letter that people think we want to read.

I draw the line at ice cream, but I can waist a lot on that subject. :D

Grits--comfort food from the Land of Dixie!  Made from corn--if you like corn chips you will like grits.  This is a fancy breakfast or a nice Sunday supper.  It's shrimp & grits--heaven on a plate.

•   3 cups whipping cream
•   1 cup whole milk
•   2 finely minced toes of garlic
•   Salt and pepper
•   1 cup stone-ground grits
•   3 tablespoons butter
•   2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
•   1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
•   6 slices bacon, chopped
•   4 teaspoons lemon juice
•   2 tablespoons chopped parsley
•   1 cup thinly sliced scallions
•   1 large clove garlic, minced
Directions
Add grits and garlic to the milk and cream. Add salt and pepper. Bring to simmer in a heavy pot and cook stirring occasionally until liquid  is absorbed, about 20 to 25 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in butter and cheese.
Fry the bacon in a large skillet until browned; drain well and chop bacon set aside. In grease, add lemon juice, chopped bacon, parsley, scallions and garlic until softened and add 1 tablespoon flour cook slowly for 3 minutes stirring.  Add one cup hot chicken or beef stock. Simmer for 30 minutes until reduced by one half.  Add shrimp and cook until pink and cooked through.
Spoon grits onto plate, top with shrimp sauce. Serve immediately.

*adds grits to jay leno list*

Um, I hate to tell you this, but I dont eat seafood either :(

The recipe itself doesnt sound too bad I suppose. I always imagined grits to be like sawdust.

I'm really not someone to judge food though. I like eating cold pizza for breakfast, so that just goes to show how demented I am.

Yeah, you should have gotten over that about 25 years ago.   ;)
