Greetings from the Evergreen State
« on: September 06, 2011, 08:52:59 AM »
Greetings everyone,

New here on the forums, been browsing for about a week and I like the community so far. It's nice to see a place where you can go and talk about being "sly." So about myself, well I hail from Washington and I love it here, so green and beautiful.

I'm 25 years old currently and I started losing my hair when I was about 22-23. Back then I was able to hide it really well by letting the top grow out and shaving the sides so both would end up the same length. Now that I'm older I wouldn't be able to hide it for the life of me. I went through all the stages, denial, anger, sadness now finally for little over half a year, I've accepted it. I don't get upset anymore when people point it out, I agree with them and sometimes make jokes to lighten the mood. I just tell them God shaves the top of my head, I just shave the sides. Or that they are just jealous I have more testosterone.

When I was a bit younger I never understood why I was the only one in my family to go bald. My Father and Mother have beautiful hair, but later on I learned that my Mothers Grandfather was bald. Never knew the guy, but thanks for the gift lol. I went through the hat phase, don't get me wrong I enjoy hats but I no longer wear them to hide my head. I wear them for style and sun protection now. When I was in the acceptance phase I tried to figure out my look, I shaved down to skin for a while but ended up shaving to a 1 all over, even my beard and I like it, my girlfriend likes it so I'm happy. I just keep my confidence up and people notice me and my awesome attitude about everything and never mention or care about my hair.

So anyway, that's me in a nut shell. Thanks for the awesome forum and all the insight and info and I'll be coming back more and more.

HA, I guess what I meant is that I was in a little shock that I went from thin haired to bald in a matter of just a few years.

Well just think...unlike guys who lose their hair at 40 or 50, you have a lot more years of your life to enjoy being bald :D

I didnt shave my head until I was 40 or so, but I wish I'd done it at a much younger age.

Welcome.

I'm 44 and just shaved my head 3 weeks ago.  I can't say I would have loved losing my hair in my 20's but since I am older than you, my wisdom now says just shave (or buzz) it to make yourself happy.  I didn't realize how good the look really is until I did it, started noticing other people, and joined this site.  And the feel is fantastic.

If you need any support for your decision, you've come to the right place.

I am from West Seattle.  I am very familiar with Kirkland and the east side of Lake Washington.

But for all the people who are not familar with the Spokane area, it is actually quite a green area.  Even though it is in Eastern Washington, it is a area of tons of Ponderosa Pine trees.  So it is quite green.  But it is not desert.  You have to go about 25 miles west of Spokane to have the desert begin!
