Sorry your sick. I was just responding to Deven's question about the process and cost. It is what it is. Obviously at the time, 20 some years ago, seemed like the right thing to do when your young and single and bald was not as acceptable as it is now. I obviously want to be rid of it for good which is why I came to this site to begin with and find support and the help push along what I know I already want to do. Yes .. it is in some way s"sick" to think about what you go through with these systems. At the time they convinved me and I convinced myself that ... if I had lost an arm or leg I would gt a prosthetic device. If I lost a tooth I would get a crown etc.. so why not if you lose your hair .. well you get the idea. I think it served its purpose back when I was young but it is time I think to reveal my true self.

I guess I understand, I would have had a problem going from thinning hair to a "full head" but that's just me.  I have what I believe is a reasonable suspicion that the rug vendors take advantage of the worries guys have as they mature and begin the mpb process--after all according to some reports 30% have some thinning at 30, 40% at forty and so forth.  But mpb is a natural genetic predisposition in most instances--we have uncles, brothers, fathers who have the trait and that is a natural progression.  Needing a prosthetic device isn't "natural"  and the devices serve a real functional purpose--wigs don't.  It would be interesting to be the "fly on the wall" as I believe the wig marketers train their staffs to "feed" the insecurity of the customer to hook them in and keep them coming back.  But the thought of all that gluing, ungluing, money, etc. does rather turn my stomach.  I think you're going to be much happier when you accept and become your natural self.

Taxman, I think the "inner relief" you're going to get is going to be monumental.
Good luck, but then again....you won't need it.  8)

Ok, so I love helping a rookie through the first steps. $45 every month? $600 a year? yeah, you will be saving a boa toad of money, It's like when I quit smoking, I started keeping track and wow, how much I wasted really shocked me.

I STRONGLY advice you to take your time in the first shave. My first shave took me almost an hour, Now I am under 7 minutes.  I also watched YouTube video's as well to check different styles. I have major OCD so when  I shave, I finish and then realize I feel a little sandpaper, so I have to re-shave. A friend of mine laughs at me, he says "what I miss today, I'll get tomorrow".  I hate OCD sometimes. LOL.

Looking forward to the report (AND PIC) Wednesday. AS for the head blade? I yeah, those are great, I can't use it because my hand dexterity, but most guy's here love them.  Headblade even has a "how to" video on their website, watch it all.

What do you plan on telling everyone when you go back to work?   Will you just say you decided to shave it all off, or will you admit you had a rug?  Every person is different.

I applaud you for your decision, I KNOW you will love it. Welcome to freedom.

That's a good question. Not sure yet what I will day to my coworkers. I will no doubt be the talk of the office for sometime. I think I will just say I wanted a change and leave it at that. It will be a real shock to so many people.

Sounds like you have the support of your wife and mother, and that's all that really matters.  Believe it or not but people might talk for a few days or maybe a week, but it's not going to change anyone's opinion about you.  Plus who cares what any of them think, life is far too short to be worried about something like hair. It seems like you're the only one that needs convincing.  It's tough to get to this point but once you're there you will not regret it.

Why not just cancel your appointment Wed. and do it  yourself ?  I cant image the System Company employees are going to agree to lose a customer and shave your whole head for you ?  SHe will do all she can to stop you wouldnt you say ?

Perhaps the reason you are even going there is in hopes they do all they can to stop you from losing their "system" which takes the decision out of your hands ?

I just dont see a reason for you to go there knowing they surely will not want to lose a paying  longtime client ?? You run the risk of leaving with a new unit and more despair.

Stop at Target or Walgreens or Walmart and pick up a 20.00 Wahl clipper, use it with out those plastic guards first. Maybe have your wife in on the fun...did you ever consider this could be quite fun for the 2 of you ?  Others have reported good times, good times....

Razor X ... funny and so true. 48 years later maybe I will finally listen

Rob 6 ....nothing really preventing me from doing it now, today. I could rip it off. It is just glued on. It may hurt a little if I do it but no problem. What holds me back is I have to work tomorrow. If I wait until Wednesday then I have a week on vacation to get use to it before going to work. Besides, my hairdresser .. who is really a friend now after 20 plus years always said if I ever deceide to take it off that I better let her do it so assuming I do it on Wednesday, she will be the one to shave me.

Daven .. Yeah.. that would be funny. Maybe I could tape it on my phone but no way am I putting it on youtube !! You got it with the money... I was thinking that as I was buying all this stuff.. what am I saving ? Of course I realize most of it is a one time purchase and I probably over did it anyway. Although .. having to buy the face cleaner, razors etc.. comes pretty close to all the gells and other stuff I buy now for my rug. But no SERVICE chagres and no new hair pieces ever !!! The process... depends but most of the "units" are glued on in the back with special bonder and tape so it really does not come off. In the front you just use tape or tape with a mild glue. The front you have to kind of flip up every few days and re-glue. You need service every 4 weeks to get a hair cut and rebond the unit. At the service she pulls it completely off gives you a shampoo and haircut etc.. and rebonds it back on. The unit itself if about $600 and lasts up to a year if you take good care of it. Once it is bonded, you shower etc.. it does not come off until your next service. Service costs are about $45 every 4 weeks.

About the blades.. I should of have done more research but I bought the special "head blade" the one with the wheels and I bought some replacement blades for this. Did I get the right one ?

Well that's expensive... So consider this: until now, you've spent lots of money on rugs and gluing them to your head, torturing your skin with glue and making it unhealthy. Now the face wash, shave balm etc. makes your skin fresh, clean and healthy. Now that's money well spent there!!!
Considering that an expense is like considering the shower gel and the towels an expense... It's just what you need to keep clean and fresh. They last long. You'll see in a few months :)

Go for it. We're waiting for an after picture on Wednesday  8)

Don"t worry about being talked about at the office.  Yes, there will be some comments and questions at first, but most people are very busy both at work and in their personal lives and they'll quickly move on.  You'll see that in a couple days, your coworkers won't notice or comment - you, in your new sly form, will look completely normal to them.

So, get on with it and start enjoying the freedom of being sly!

Thanks again guys for all the comments and support. I think it’s true what others have said on this site, without some support for this decision, it would make it much more difficult to proceed.

After reading the last few comments last night I had it set in my mind all day today that I am going to do it tomorrow.

Chgobuzzbald: Your right. I could just do it now or tomorrow without going to the appointment and I have thought about it  but I have been with my particular hairdresser for over 20 years and we are really friends. She will not try to convince me to stay with the system. We have had conversations before and we always agreed that when the day comes, she would like to be the one to cut it off. I am not sure that she will take the time to actually shave me so my plan is to have her cut it down as low as she can ( less mess at my house) and then slip on hat go home and finish the job with my new Headblade.

As I said before, my wife has never seen me without hair so I  think I want to do this alone or with the hairdresser who seems my bald head every four weeks before displaying my new look to the wife.

Paragon: Absolutely true. I realize that the expense associated with the upkeep of my system now is wasted money and unhealthy to say the least. Just one more reason I am ready. As I said, I worry about what the glue does anyway. The expense associated with healthy cleaning products to keep my new sly head clean and fresh will be well worth it.

I am still here. Still convinced that I am going to do it tomorrow so I unless I suddenly get spooked at the last minute, it appears it will happen tomorrow. I even hinted to some of my employees that I was thinking of going bald and I kept a two day beard on my face at work today.

In my case, I don’t just have one workplace to worry about. In addition to my day job, I also am an adjunct professor at a local college and I actually have a class starting on the Thursday following my return from Vegas. They will be new students so no big deal there but it will be a shock to some of my colleagues there and then I have to go through it all over again when I return to my day job. Hope The head looks good. Who knows what it will look like after years of tape, glue and no sunshine. First time shave could be rough.

You might want to try shaving with a stick razor first until you get used to it.The Headblade has a learning curve. Our stories are similar and you will love being sly when the rug comes off.
