Oily Head Shortly After Shaving Questions

Hey guys. I'm a new guy to the forum, but a fellow sly bald guy for over the last 3 years. I have a question for everyone on here. No matter how often I shave and no matter with what products I use to shave, my head is usually really dry as soon as I finish shaving and within 4 hours of me finish shaving, it gets an oily texture all over my scalp. I have tried nearly every shaving cream you can get from the stores and I've even used just soap, and they've all produced the same results. What's funny about this is that when I used to have hair, my hair never was oily at all. Currently I just switched from a 4 blade Schick Hydro to a 5 blade Fusion Proglide and will be shaving here shortly. I doubt a different type of razor could affect it, but you never know. Does anyone have this issue at all?

Summertime is the worst. I get oily but a quick water only wash takes care of that.

Yeah, I'm having to "rinse" my head like 3-4 times a day it seems like. I just shaved w/ my new razor and it got rid of that immediate sticky/oily feeling from shaving, so maybe the new razor might help some

Even though visible hair doesn't grow any more in the bald areas, the follicles still have the glands to produce sebum--it's sort of like a natural hair conditioner. Since the hair that is still produced by a "bald" follicle is very fine and usually has a very short terminal length--and in the case of sly is cut off at the skin line--it can't absorb or use the sebum which presents itself as an oil texture on the scalp. See:
http://dermatology.about.com/cs/hairanatomy/a/hairbiology.htmLike Hook'Em I also wash my smooth dome at least two to three times a day, I wipe it down with damp paper towels in the men's room at work after going outside--where just plain sweat is added to the problem--and also use wipes, such as those put out by Bald Guyz to control the situation.
I also try to use a sunscreen that is non-oily to help with minimizing the issue, although it really can give a guy a great shine, if you like shine--I do. Hope this helps--a little oily feel is a whole lot better than a fringe at any length, IMO.

Thanks saint. I knew I'd produce oil and I knew that it would be more than I'm used to, I just didn't think it'd be this bad lol. I guess since I'm technically homebound due to medical reasons and I'm not working out in the sun like I used to, it's more noticeable since I'm not wiping my head every 5 minutes to get rid of the sweat. I appreciate the feedback guys.

Glad I'm not the only one who's experienced this! I've been shaving for about ten weeks and about two weeks ago noticed the oiliness. Seems to have coincided with a heatwave we had.
I have been washing my head a couple times a day in the men's room at work and wiping down with a napkin as well.

Another great reason to use Bald Guyz hard wipes, I just wish they were more affordable. In the meantime, there is always handy-wipes.

I need to pick up the Bald Guyz kits. Seems to me that a lot of guys on here have been talking about them and recommending them. On a side note tho, I shaved for the first time with the 5-blade Proglide this morning, and almost 13 hours later still not stubble. So I guess 5-blades are better than 4 lol.

I'm with Hookem.... I love running into the men's room and splashing my head with some cool water on a hot day when the oil flares up. Also....I use the witch hazel every morning as a rinse. It seems to help.

I use a little of the hand soap to clean up. It does the trick.

I just wet my hands and rub my head. then dry with a towel. It does the trick and cool. Nothing complex about it.
