philips headgroom - Opinions.....

Hey all,
I find wet shaves using a razor time consuming and quite tricky. I have since started using an electric face shaver on my head with some good results, although as many people have said, it doesnt cut as close as a wet shave.
I have since come across the 'philips headgroom' - looks to have a lot of potential.
I'd appreciate people's opinions from people on what they think of it, whether or not they have used it doesnt matter.
Thanks a lot in advance people !!

Interesting looking design. Have to admit up front that I'm a little skeptical of the rotating head, only because I have come to believe that the more moving parts there are in a particular tool the more opportunities there are for failure. Philips, of course, has been a reputable company in the past with sound product lines as far as I know so I have no reason to believe that they didn't do their homework on this.
One thing to keep in mind is that as sly becomes more and more accepted that more and more companies are going to come up with more and more innovations to facilitate slyness. Some of these products will, no doubt, get rushed onto the market without sufficient stress testing and those products will probably suffer failures in the demanding hands of people like those in this forum. So hang onto your receipts.

I've had really good results with the Panasonic LA63. Been using it for a while now. It's as close as a ATG shave just doesn't last as long. Give it a shot. I know they sell it at Target and they have a great return policy if you don't like it. It's kind of pricey but I haven't bought blades in a long time. Eventually it will pay for itself if you have it for about a year.

I got just that modell with the turning head and both clipper and shaving function. But I only used it as a clipper so I dont know about how close it can get but as a clipper it works fine!

I've been using the Philips bodygroom (not the headgroom) for a while, but I'm not satisfied. I had to pass over and over to get a reasonable shave, it took much longer than a hand razor and irritated the skin on the lower back of my neck much more.
I doubt that an electric shaver can do a good job, it can't have blades as sharp as necessary.

A question for those of you who have used this razor and the Panasonic one that so many people seem to like (I can't remember the exact model at the moment) -- does it really work as shown in this video clip? Can you really get a smooth shave with one pass of these razors?
I've been battling skin problems that require medication for the past couple of years. It started on the top of my scalp and was worse in the completely bald areas where I never shave, so I've never thought the blade was part of the problem. Lately I've gotten things under control on top of the scalp, but now I'm breaking out on the sides where I do need to shave. I recently switched to an electric razor and plan on using it for the next month or so to see if it makes a difference.
I'm using the Conair Cleanhead, and while it does a decent job and gives a pretty close shave, I dislike using it because you have to go over the same spot multiple times in a circular motion to remove all the stubble. This actually takes longer than wet-shaving and the friction is still irritating to the areas where I'm having skin problems. If I could find an electric shaver that really works the way this one is used in the video, I'd be willing to give it a try.

I use the Panasonic and it takes a couple passes to get smooth (once with, once against the grain). I also then finish off with a HeadBlade against the grain to get really smooth, although if pressed for time, I'll stop after the electric only - but it still takes two passes.
