Hi all,
i've been lurking on the forums for a weeks now and have finally decided to post an intro.
I am 29 yr old guy, who has been slowly losing hair since i was abt 20. i have thinning hair in the front which is not so bad because it can be covered up....but have a bald spot in the back which seems to be growing larger by the day

(Pics attached)
I want to go sly...but my folks are dead against it.... usual arguments of you will look horrible, make u look older, people dont notice since yr tall (so am i never supposed to bend down!!) etc.... so i need all the encouragement i can get. My dad is bald but is still holding on to the last remnants of his hair
the whole MBP thing has been eating away at my confidence fr yrs now and its affected the way interact (or lack thereof) with women. Since i'm Ok on the front, i always wonder what girls say when i sit down or turn my head and they can see the bald spot
I'm old enough and i know i should have the cojones to shave my head... but sadly i dont

Any advice frm u guys would be appreciated.... what did u go through??

Welcome to SBG, you've found the right place. You're at the early stages of a combover, that's the whole story told short. If you do nothing, your hair will continue to drop out in the typical male pattern baldness fashion, fast or slow--depending on your particular genetics and you'll ultimately be bald with a fringe and a combover too perhaps. I can't speak the the cultural acceptance or implications of a shaved head in India, but if it's gotten to the point you're worrying about this all the time I would suggest shaving it off, all of it. Get ahead of the pattern baldness--it can't be stopped reliably by drugs or surgery or most importantly safely in those cases or in a cost effective manner by the use of wigs and toupees. Try it for 30 days. Remember you're the guy that deals with this and its effects 24 hours a day, 7 days a week--not your family or friends--just you. So getting where you're happy and content is the goal. Try it, and I think you'll like it--I personally came from the combover problem too--ignoring the situation, continually combing and spraying the remnants down until it couldn't be denied any longer. For my part the only regret was waiting so long. Good luck.

Welcome to SBG's forum ironsailor. I agree with the guys, and say you should give it a try as well. I'm betting you will love it. The main thing you want to do is be sure you're doing it for yourself.
You won't know until you give it a go.

That's a good transition point, shave a day or two before going--then everyone you meet will only know you sly. Get it skinned a little before you go to let the pale scalp to tan up a little--not too much dependable sun in London.

We got one sly bald indian guy at my work for whatever it is worth it looks good on him and I think you got even better facial structure for it. I think you will look yonger, not older.

I go to a rather large University in the U.S (I am American and sly) and I see a lot of Indian guys who are balding badly. I always wondered why they just don't shave it. I figured it must be cultural norms in Indian society against it.
Anyway, I say you break the mold and shave it off. It will definitely make you stand out amongst other Indians, and I mean that in a good way! Also, London is a progressive place so you will fit right in!
As a side note, I see the same thing in Asians as well. Lots of guys balding but none shave their heads.
It may have to do with the American ideal of personal expression.

Welcome.
If you don't have the guts to shave, then do what all lot of us did first which was a short buzzcut first (0 or 1).
I agree that doing it prior to going to London would be perfect.

On the contrary to one of your arguments... you look older when you are balding. Shaving makes you look much younger. People who don't know me guess that I am about 10 years younger than I really am. Go for it!

Most definately, shave your head! You'll look terrific. You'll feel amazing. There's nothing to lose except the hair that's causing you misery.
