Google+ invites
« on: July 11, 2011, 09:15:47 AM »
As some of you may know Google is stepping into the social network arena with what they are calling Google+. I don't think it is a FaceBook killer yet, but it has some nice features and potential.

It kind of quite right now because they are new and beta testing it. If you would like an invite though, leave your email address as a comment (or PM it to me) and I'll send you an invite. One thing about the invites, you may or may not get an email confirming your invite. So you may want to go to plus.google.com and attempt to log in.

Life has three aspects: Paradox, Humor, and Change.

Paradox: Life is a mystery; don't waste time figuring it out.
Humor: Keep a sense of humor, especially about yourself. It is a strength beyond all measure
Change: Know that nothing stays the same.

I tried to join and start a circle, but couldn't figure it out. I guess I ain't bright enough (this wouldn't be a first time this has happened). A friend of mine (online) did a video on it and it's quite cool, being able to do video chatting and stuff, I think it just might hurt Facebook as facebook hurt MySpace.  It's all evolution. my email is in my info if you want to invite me.

Didn't Facebook, which is partially owned by MS, just add SKYPE, which is totally owned by MS, to its' offerings.

I noticed today that Google has posted a notice that they have temporarily exceeded their capacity for Google + and to try again later.

That seems to be happening from time to time - growing pains I guess. I sent your invite. Just check back at the site to see when that message isn't there and you should be able to try and log in.

Hey Doug what are your thoughts so far? I like it. So far I love the no ads all over the right panel. But I'm sure at some point that will change.

Hey Tom,

Right now there is not a lot to do on Google +, I will be honest on that. There are no games on there, there are only the friends you invite or that have invited you since it's still by invite only. The advantages over FB for me is that I have never really cared for FB. I joined because well everyone else is on there and it's a quick easy way to communicate. It's also a lot more streamlined. You can create different "circles of friends" meaning that if you post some joke that you don't want the family to read but you do want your bros to read you can do that easily. It does tie into everything you do on google. Say you have a smart phone with Google a la Android, that pic will get sent to Picassa where you can later decide whether to share, who to share it with etc.

I found this that hopefully will answer more questions to you and anyone else out there who is interested:

How do you get the invitation the easiest way is to ask for one from someone who already has one.

Peace,
Adrian
