I shaved for the first time ever six days ago. As 51 year old who began losing my hair in my early 20's, I had coped with my hair loss by wearing ball caps at almost every waking minute. I have friends who have never seen me without a cap.
That's all changing now! I woke up Sunday morning while on vacation, got in the shower, lathered up my head, and started shaving. When I stepped out of the shower, Ifelt like a new man. My daughter and our friends said it looked fine. My wife said she was surprised but that maybe I wouldn'd feel the need to wear caps all the time.
My only concern is that my forehead is tanning in a very splotchly pattern, almost like a reverse birthmark. I guess I just need to give it more time.
Work is going to be a lot of fun on Monday! Of about 30 people in our office, I'll be the only "Sly" guy in the building. Of the 140 employees working for my agency (I work for the Federal Govt.) in Illinois, only one other employee shaves his head!
Like I said, this is going to be fun!
