M5 Razor
« on: July 07, 2011, 11:53:01 AM »
Just picked up an M5 over the weekend and am having trouble with it. The razor seems to clog up after the first shave and afterwards gives a terrible shave no matter how much rinsing. Is anybody else having problems with it.? Any advice appreciated.

M5 clogging? :/O  Never, but never, had any such problem.  I'm using Headslick, applied with a brush.  What are you preparing your dome with?

Nope! I use mine every time I shave my face and have never had an issue with clogging. Are you using a shave "cream"? I find that some creams will clog up a razor.

You may have gotten an "off" batch of blades Tom. I just picked up a new CVS version of the M5 called 5 Blade. It's basically the same but with different marketing. I gotta tell you, I used it on Tuesday and I couldn't believe how good it was. Extremely great shave and I was smooth all day. It's definitely a keeper, and I will use this over fusion anyday.

I've been shaving with a Schick Hydro 5 for a couple weeks now. No clogging issues & I shave with cream rinse. The Hydro lubricates better than the Fusion but I'm not convinced the blades are any better.

After reading suggestions here I switched to M5 from Gillete fusion - Have had no problems - as a habit I change cartridges on Sundays - shave daily.  No problem clogging.  Use a shaving gel.  Half the price of the the comparable fusion.   $5.88 for package of 4 cartridges and local supermarket.
