When to replace tripleblades in the Headblade
« on: June 22, 2011, 08:18:15 PM »
I am truly enjoying my Headblade since it arrived on June9th  I have been shaving my head five to six times a week. Unlike the Gillette Fusion Pro, the Headblade has reduced razor bumps to little if no irritation at all.

My only concern is how often do you guys change blades in your headblade. With the Fusion it was simple the color stripe on the blades eventually fades to white. I know that blade usage varies from person to person I am just trying to get feel on how long do the tripleblades last. Thank You…  O0

I always change my blades every Monday.

I scrape the dome every other day and am now on the 4th week with my HB triples. After shaving and a good rinse I spray my blades with a 75/25 mix of peroxide/alcohol. I shake off the excess and let them air dry. I'm still getting a smooth dome. I gave up relying on the lube strips as a guide, I have found that I have plenty of life left in the blades after the strips get a little bleached out. I am using the amount of resistance I get during the shave as an indication of when to change the blades and I can detect this right away.

Typically I get around 7 uses out of a blade (I shave every other day and change the blade every 2 weeks).  I do notice a difference if I try to stretch it beyond that.

I normally shave every day.  Some weeks if I'm running late, I'll skip a day, but no more than that or me and my noggin get irritated.  I change my blades every Monday as well.

Be careful you don't shove the caliper in too far when you're removing the blades from their tray.  I've bent the holy CRAP out of them by doing that before.

Hi guys, first time poster  :).

Just wanted to contribute to this thread, as the gentleman mentioned earlier i also change my head every month and stopped using the white strip as a guide, all i do is clean the excess trapped hair between the triple blades with a bristle brush this for me removes almost all hairs between the blades, then i spray the head with a Philips cleaning spray (which i bought for my beard trimmer) and let it dry for around 5-10 mins. Although unorthodox it gets the job done and gives it a brand new look/feel and gives me just a close shave as it did brand new.
